“Quiet canal side, but a hike from the metro”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2014

Attractive small hotel beside a typical Dutch canal with resident ducks. Very quiet location but a 15 minute walk from the end of a metro line. Nice bar, inviting dining room overlooking patio and water views.. Very pleasant and helpful staff.

Room Tip: ask for canal view.

Very good location if traveling by car. You can leave your car at hotel parking (free of charge), walk to metro station (~10 min.) and reach city center in 20 minutes.

Rooms are big and comfortable. Friendly staff ar reception and (especially) in restaurant.

Wi-Fi quality is good both in lobby and in rooms.

I would recommend it for the families visiting Amsterdam. Clean big rooms, friendly staff and nice quiet location. Transportation is very well organised so traveling to city center is not difficult at all. The trains are operating to midnight, coming back later could be difficult. Nice parks and children playgrounds close to hotel, walking distance.
Plan to have breakfast in the hotel since there are no restaurants close by. Breakfast menu is usual hotel menu but very expensive.

The hotel situated in a quiet and picturesque place. To the center of city you can reached on underground by 2.80 euros. From the hotel to the station (terminal station) walk through the park about 10 minutes.
At the reception, pleasant, smiling staff. Readily help and answer questions of visitors. In the lobby there sockets, Wi-Fi, city maps and discount coupons in the free use, - that is very convenient.
The rooms are spacious, bright and clean, with a beautiful interior. Bathroom, shower and toilet - clean and new. There are personal care products, two snow-white towels per person, hot and cold water, and other necessities. The beds in the rooms are very, very comfortable and sleep in them is a pleasure. There is no noise, and excellent insulation. The room has a TV, catches wi-fi and all the essential pieces of furniture.
The dining room is clean, spacious, beautifully decorated interiors. The breakfasts are delicious and varied. I think everyone will be well fed. ^_^
It is overlooking the scenic backyard. There is a clear pond with birds, gazebo for relaxing, lots of brightly flowers and wonderful landscaping design!!!!
Near the hotel there is a spacious parking lot.
I recommend it. =)

I was actually a bit worried about this hotel, there was quite many bad reviews, about a worn down hotel, with a not very helpful staff. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised.

First of all the room: It had a view right to one of the canals / rivers in Amsterdam, so people would sail past right outside, this in itself is worth a star in the review. There was air-con in the room, on a 30+ degree Celsius day, you really appreciate this. The room was quite big, and the bathroom came with a bathtub.

While the people in the reception, where a bit 'cold', the people working in the bar, an restaurant where extremely friendly.

There is a nice green area around the hotel, where you can take a small walk, or just sit near the canal and watch the ships.

Not all was good though.

The price compared to the quality in the restaurant is not ok, either they should lower the prices or up the quality. You don't want dry scrambled eggs if you paid 13 euros for it, and you don't want your salmon drowned in teriyaki sauce to cover over that its a bit dry.

Its 'in the middle of nowhere', there is a 15 minute walk to the metro, and a 30-40 minute ride to downtown. There are no other restaurants in the area, no shops or even anything worth seeing, the only semi interesting thing is a nearby park.

Its relatively cheap though, and if you don't mind wasting about 2 hours a day on transport to and from the center, its a ok choice for a hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room facing the canal !!

Just stayed in one night and was very clean and silent. Rooms are big enough, the location is peacefully good, near by the lake. It is only 10 min. drive to Amsterdam city centre.
Try to walk around the lake in early morning.

Room Tip: Try to get lake view rooms.

I went to Amsterdam for two days and I stayed in this hotel for one night.
The service was good, big rooms (very clean), free parking (which is an asset).
The hotel is a 10 min drive from Amsterdam centre. I can recommend this hotel to anyone.
There's also a subway station nearby which connects you to Amsterdam centre.
