“Good hotel in an excellent location - great staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2009

My husband and I stayed here during the Amsterdam leg of our honeymoon. The staff was nice and helpful, speak great English. recommended bars, restaurants and coffee shops. The room was incredibly clean - in the Marriott style, modern. Bar and restaurant are available, only had breakfast there once as it wasn't included in our room price. Used room service often, very convenient. The location is wonderful...near the train station and in walking distance of everything!
Fitness center is big with cardio and weights.

We arrived in Amsterdam early morning and were able to check in by 10am. The room was a nice size and had at least 5 or 6 lamps, a great bed and nice bathroom with a fold-out make-up mirror (women will appreciate that!). Very quiet room.
We didn't realize what a great price we got on the room (125 euro) until we helped our nephew find a room for the same night at another nearby hotel. His was a TINY room, only one twin bed and no extra space--114 euro.
The concerige was very helpful in giving us walking directions to the attractions we wanted to see. Would definitely stay here again.

Great hotel location indeed!!
But it could be less expensive for what you get...
Although it was extra clean, and the breakfast was really great!!

The truth is, that everyone who worked there was very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is one of the Marriott chain, so you can imagine the luxury and how modern everything was..

The location is great, as It's only 10 minutes walk from Amsterdam Central train station, and you can reach any place you want just by walking, or taking the tram. Amsterdam is a very small city...

Don't miss the Van Gogh Museum and walk Amsterdam...Is really great!!

PS. If you book online try to book a room with bf otherwise you're going to pay 24,50 euro pp!!

I traveled the trans-Atlantic flight on Fridy to arrive 8AM Saturday morning in Amsterdam. I quickly exited Schipol airport and made it to the Renaissance quickly where I waited 25 minutes for check in. There were 3 front desk reps (2 very junior that were deer in headlights) working but they were disorganized and getting caught up in a group of 5 Americans checking in as 'associates' rate.

I would think the manager, Sara, would have been wise enough to serve full paying guests (not associates) first and segment the staff if they are caught up on tough questions coming from demanding American Marriott associates about ability to use the concierge lounge, ensuring the full family (every room) gets the associate rate, etc. It was quite a seem for those of us paying customers that were waiting in line to check in.

Great hotel location. Place was a little expensive for what you get.

Cleanliness: Above par. No complaints at all.

Service: EXCELLENT. Concierge was terrific. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Front desk staff was efficient and helpful.

Location: About 5 minutes walk (with luggage) from Amsterdam Central train station. Walking distance to most downtown stuff. 24 hour security is present at the hotel...so no worries around the hotel.

Value: I don't know...I suppose it is Europe and the dollar sucks right now...but it still seemed awfully expensive. Breakfast buffet was expensive as well.

All in all this is a great place. If you book here and are looking to save money on snacks, beer, wine...etc....you can always find a cheap place to eat....and buy some drinks. Heck..with the train station so close...eating breakfast was pretty cheap.

Don't get a room on the bottom or 1st floor. Depending on your location in the hotel, you could be too close to the street level and thus...security could be jeopardized. Otherwise...you are good to go.
PS...Internet is crazy expensive.
