“5 star?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

We stayed here for 4 nights for our wedding anniversary. We didn't get off to a great start when shortly after we'd checked in another couple entered our room as they'd also been booked into our room. The hotel knew it was our anniversary so a bottle of cava awaited us after a day of sight seeing which was a nice touch.
The location of this hotel is perfect, the hotel is modern and the bed was very big and comfortable. I would like to give the hotel a 3 and a half star rating really as it does have many positives. However, there is no free wifi anywhere in the hotel, there is supposed to be in the lobby but it was painfully slow. Having no free wifi in this day and age is unacceptable. Other negatives are that the TV is annoying to operate, our room key needed resetting on another occasion, the tea/coffee supplies were limited and the towels were frayed. Amsterdam is one of our favourite city breaks so we travel there reguarly and have stayed at the other 5 star hotels in the city. The Amrath is a much better experience as the building is fabulous, the NH Centre is modern with great views. This hotel isn't as good as either of these but it is better than the NH Barbizon Palace which is seriously tired. We got a good deal through Priceline so we were happy enough and it was a good base but I'd choose elsewhere if paying full price.

Stayed here summer 2010. Very nice hotel, at the time was just recently remodeled so everything was almost brand new. Perfect location, walking distance to almost everywhere. Like 3 blocks away from the train station. My room opened to the courtyard so was pretty quiet. Really enjoyed my stay. Definitely recommend.

We just returned from a weekend away in Amsterdam, the Radisson Amsterdam was our home away from home. It is located close to Central Station and within healthy walking distance of the top 10 places to see in the city. I would imagine hotels in the central area have a lot of street noise, but not the case at the Radisson. And hopefully if you go Ben, our navigator/concierge, is at the desk to help you find places to shop, eat and visit. When you return, he will be anxious to check how his suggestions work. A real gem in a city known for diamonds!

Room Tip: I would suggest second floor or higher in case there is street noise.

clean comfortable room but...air conditioner noisy and unbelievably noisy outside the hotel - all night people were talking and calling out. And how can a hotel that provides dressing gowns, shampoo, etc charge for internet access for their guests - this is cheapness beyond compare.

We selected this hotel because it is in the middle of " everything". 5 minute walk from the Central Station, where we came in from Schipol airport. Tram stops 1 minute away, which makes it easy to get to the attractions. Room was adequate and no outside noise came in. The TV-system is complicated and slow. Sound quality poor !
The business center Internet is VERY slow. Excellent bar environment, just too many loadspeakers for comfort. No quiet corner for conversation.
Plenty of nice restaurants nearby.

OK we were a bit nervous getting off the high speed train from Brussels as we exited the Central Station in Amsterdam. The Renaissance was only 4 short blocks away however everything in between was Times Square in NYC on steroids. Once you walk past the honkey tonk etc.. you turn down a quiet side street and come upon the Marriott Renaissance. WOW!!!! A few great reasons to stay there
1) Everything in Amerstdam is nearby
2) the men at the concierge's desk are the best we have EVER encountered
3) great restaurants within walking distance
4) GO BACK TO NUMBER 2 again !!! They are invaluable.
5) rooms are a bit smaller than US rooms but who cares

Lounge gets a bit run over at times but is a great benefit if you can get access.

Room Tip: request a high floor and access to the lounge

The Renaissance is in a great location, just five minutes from the central train station but on a quiet street so you don't have to deal with the hassle of prins henrikkade street where most of the other train-friendly hotels are located. Efficient check-in, stylish lobby, comfortable beds and good room service (24 hours a huge plus) make it a great choice for business stays. Only issue is that the price sometimes creeps high, impacting overall value. Overall, a great place to stay!
