“Good, centrally placed hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013 via mobile

No mistake, this is a nice hotel. It is 5 to 10 minute walks to Centraal station, close to tourist eateries and a 15 minute walk to restaurants off the beaten track. The only problem I found was that it was difficult to get the room warm during the cold snap- not cold but not toasty either. Nonetheless, my favourite hotel in Amsterdam.

When I had to return to Amsterdam I had no hesitation in booking this hotel again.

It's a 5 min walk to Centrale station and there are loads of bars and restaurants all around the hotel. I love the lobby with its constant fire and the staff actually appear genuinely interested in the guests.

The beds are glorious. It's like sleeping on a cloud. We've never done it before but we actually seeked out the lables to see who made the duvets, pillows and sheets...and we've ordered some. Very expensive they are too!

I have one moan, it is very expensive and at that price I really think the hotel should include breakfast. That is my only gripe and the thing that would make me search out another hotel.

Room Tip: They are all the same size and the views are equally unmemorable.

I stayed at the Renaissance in Amsterdam for a four day weekend. It was freezing and snowing the entire weekend, but the hotel was always a nice safe and warm place to return to after a long day of shopping and exploring. My room was always very clean and quiet. The gym was actually a very good hotel gym… Which is always something very important to me when I travel. The gym is spacious and has several treadmills and other machines and a free weights and Stretching area. I liked the location because it was always easy to find and there are so many little shops and restaurants just around the corner or down the street. Normally I never hang out in hotel lobbies, but this lobby was so nice with great comfortable seating, I spent some time reading and writing postcards and people watching.

Quiet, especially given its location, close to the train station, good glitzy bar ( also the pub on the corner is actually part of the hotel, though it looks old and separate), decent if pricey room service and immaculate. The toilets were a bit whiffs end of last year and early this year, but the rest of the hotel and the rooms are always immaculate, so I expect they have sorted by now. It's not perfect, and it isn't the cheapest, but it is a good reliable option. Recommended

We had a nice stay at this hotel. All of the staff was very helpful and friendly. I had read some reviews that this was not the case - not so! Anyone we passed was always polite and friendly. The concierge desk was extremely helpful. Anyone at that desk always offered helpful suggestions and directions. The room was always cleaned from day to day. The hotel is in a nice location - close to Central Station and within walking distance to everything. The club room meals were always filled with the morning breakfast food and the evening appetizers. If the plates were empty, they were immediately refilled. The staff in the club room was always friendly. All in all a good stay.

We stayed at the Renaissance for two nights after flying in from the states. Great service! Immaculate hotel (which is something which cannot be taken for granted here-- we found this out from staying at several other places while in the Netherlands). The location is convenient, very close to Centraal Station, while also easy walking distance to other locations. Our room was spacious and quiet at night. The breakfast buffet had many delicious choices. I would recommend this hotel highly.

The staff was wonderful. They allowed us to check in super early and check out late. The location is great. Easy walking distance to great restaurants and bars. The room is lovely. The fitness center is great. I am not sure how this place could get much better. Great stay!!!
