“Quality lodging, Outstanding concierge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2012

This property is about what you would expect from a Marriott Renaissance. High quality furnishings, good location, excellent club lounge, attentive personnel. However, this property also has an outstanding concierge named Leo. He Is an American who studied Dutch history in Holland and is wonderful at sharing his knowledge with guests. Please make sure if you stay here, that you allow him to plan a walking trip for you, particularly if you enjoy history.

One negative. The directions on the website are very confusing coming from Central Station. Get better directions or spend some time wandering around, like we did.

Nice hotel for a short stay. Excellent service, breakfast really good. Rooms a bit small but lovely and comfortable. 5 minutes from the station. They do great deals so worth looking out for them on their website. The only downside is some rooms are quite far from the lift as it is a bit hotel and a bit of noise from outside but nothing major.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near a lift if mobility is a problem

My husband and traveled to Amsterdam as part of our European trip. I am been saving my reward points for a special trip. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Upon arrival at the hotel we had exceptional service. At the check in counter we asked if this was our first time here and we were given full details regarding all of the services of the hotel. We mentioned that it was our anniversary and we were nicely surprised with bottle of champagne in to our room.
I travel with a voltage adapter however the one I had must have been faulty as it blew the power. Within minutes the maintenance staff and housekeeping was at our room restored the power and provided us with a heavy voltage converter.
We used the concierge desk every day to get directions and recommendations and each and every member of your team gave us great service.
Not only is this hotel located in a great location the service and quality of the staff was impeccable. This is why I stay with Marriott when I travel.

Thank you

I first stayed at this hotel many years ago when it was the Sonesta. I remember it well then and had heard good reports since its Marriott takeover and its Renaissance branding. My expectations were high and we weren't disappointed. I really can't find anything to criticise(apart from the unnecessary piped music in the restaurant which was turned off at our request). The staff were excellent in every department, rooms comfortable and well furbished and the Club lounge was excellent. Will make this my base for the future in Amsterdam.

well located for the train station (with great links to Schiphol) but a bt too close to the Red Light district, this is a good if rather standard American style hotel. Good rooms, comfy beds, nice shower and good fitness room. But extras come at a price. They wanted alomst 20 euros a day for wifi; 27 euros each for breakfast and then offered a club deal for 75 euros to include those plus a room upgrade (not necessary) and evening drinks and snacks. Fortunately if you take a right turn there are lots of cafes on Singel offering breakfast which have a much more Dutch feel. Comforting for those from the US who like to feel at home - but little to give much of a European feel.

I read the reviews and took my chances. What a wondeful hotel!! Front desk staff was awesome and friendly. Rooms were large and very clean. Walls are a little thin, we could hear a child crying but did not bug us to much (as we have kids of our own so we know how traveling with them is) Close to the train station and walking distance to Dam Square and other sites. Resturant down stairs is good but staff could be more attentive. There are resturants and markets close by if you do not want to eat at the hotel. Overall, we enjoyed it.
