“Nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 days ago NEW

We spend 2 nights at this hotel after a Viking Cruise in order to explore Amsterdam. It is right in the middle of everything and easy to get anywhere. The Rijksmuseum is within easy walking distance. The tram system is very easy to navigate and the closest stop is is Leidseplein. Bus 197 also picks up and drops off here running to the airport every 30 minutes, for 5€.

If you exit the hotel and go to the left, then take a right at the next street, there is a grocery store at the intersection with a stop light (Albert Heijn- blue lights). We were able to get a wide variety of breakfast items here cheap and avoid the 28€ breakfast at the hotel.

Having to be in the lobby to get free wifi is annoying, but wifi is going the way of checked bag fees. The rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable. The heating control would not allow us to go below 66 degrees, which was annoying since we like to sleep cold.

If you want to stay close to everything and be at a location that's easy to get to, this is the place. And watch out for the bikes!!

We are platinum members and we're happy with our stay. I didn't rate them a 5 for three main items: 1) during dinner in the bar we had a mouse crawling by our feet. We moved, but it was a bit unsettling. 2) the service from the bar personnel could have been more. Our waters were not refilled and when we switched tables our water glass that was left behind was never replaced.
We didn't feel like the staff were welcoming nor as friendly as the other service. 3) during check out we were not asked how our stay was. This was disappointing. We would like to have given them our feedback.

The room service was excellent, front desk check in was also very nice. We really enjoyed the room being ready upon check in as we were travelling with children.

Best hotel I have stayed in for many years .:-)
First thing first, The BEDS are amazing, they are so impressive, you can actually order their mattresses and Beds from a catalogue. Its the best nights sleep I have ever had, seriously .!

Location excellent if visiting Amsterdam. Staff were very professional, helpful and friendly at all times! Food was wonderful and the 28 Euro Breakfast had an excellent selection to choose from. Also the 140 Euro Sirloin Joint served with vegetables and potatoes was exquisite. Nice little gym for those early morning workouts! Casino across the road(won several thousand Euros using a pocket roulette computer :-) Amsterdam, well this is well worth the visit, lovely culture, people, museums(Rembrandt's and Van Gogh's), Canal boat trips that have headphones in several languages to guide you on the attractions as you pass by .We also arranged a personal visit to Gassan Diamond centre and although you can join the tour groups, we had a personal member of staff display some of their finest diamonds to us and we made a purchase saving thousands of pounds. If you like Diamonds, ,,this is the place to visit :-)
We also visited Ann Franks House, the red light district( not as a customer I may add LOL), and a couple of Music venues including Melloe Mellow( Blues Club and if you love guitar, well worth the visit to see Lamar doing his thing. .)..
The Shops are amazing too, so much to choose from and mostly good quality goods .Its like London, but cheaper. .If you like shopping Girls, you will never get bored of this place, it has its own Harrods like store, and streets and streets of clothes shops! :-)

I will be going back there shortly, I loved Amsterdam and the Marriot Hotel!

Actually: nothing to complain. Perfect staff, very friendly and helpfull. Only one remark: a little bit outdated. Processes automated: online check-in and check-out. Very pretty valet-parking, of course a good price, you're in the very centre of the capital of the Netherlands. The room: a little bit out-dated, colours, carpet, bath (no shower, shower in bath, so for us almost 70 year old people, this becomes problematic)). But almost everything was available (there is a list: this and that is for you, but the shaving set was not there!). Beds: very good, breakfast: no remarks, it was complete. TV-channels work. Price/Quality: OK. One other remark: WiFi is free in the lobby, but very very slow. in your room, you have to pay: € 6,95 per 24 hrs.: this is too much. WiFi these days should be FREE.
A hotel to remember. All the specialities in Amsterdam are 'around the corner', as we say in Holland.
Conclusion anyway: we come back. But we keep asking for a walk-in shower and free WiFi.

Room Tip: If you want a shower in stead of a bath, you will have to accept a smaller room! Marriott: please re...

We loved being close to the Van Gogh museum and the Rijksmuseum, as well as Vondelpark. There were lovely shops and great dining nearby. The staff and the Executive lounge were excellent. The reason that I didn't give a higher number for the review is because the rooms need to be remodeled. A simple change of decor would make this a first class hotel.
