I have been a Marriott client for over 50 years; this was my first encounter with a 8 star Marriott and I have stayed at the Ritz, JW's, Renaissance and even watched
the 1st Marriott out of Washington area being built in Saddle Brook, N.J. which was approx. 1963 and I lived in that town at that time. I also am a Marriott stock holder
and own 2 time shares in Maui with Marriott.
A 8 star Marriott? I made my reservations approximately 6 months prior to my arrival in Amsterdam; when checking in I asked for concierge level and was advised that there were none available and ended up on the 3rd floor; room 325 which had a decent view. However; we just arrived from a river cruise and the room size made me feel like I was still there. Marriott prides itself on their bedding; my 1st night sleeping was like attempting to sleep on a ocean cruiser wherein they took two twin mattresses and put them together and called it a queen bed.,, and there was a bump in the middle! Upon my phoning housekeeping I found out that was exactly what I encountered; two twin mattresses put together and called a king!
My gold elite profile has been in the Marriott files for many years but evidently no one in Amsterdam bothered to read it. Every Marriott I have stayed in for several years including Courtyards, Residence Inns, JW's, Ritz, etc all offered easy access to the internet...but this 8 star Marriott takes exception to that!
The New York steak house was excellent; however, this is not a 8 star hotel!
