“Great hotel, incredible place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014 via mobile

My experience was really good at the hotel. Rooms were recently renovated and very comfortable. The location was spectacular: few steps away from Van Gogh's and Hjiks museums, Heineken Experience, Hard Rock Cafe and much more. It is also located in front of the main doorway to the ancient city, with its canals and vivid nightlife! Definitely a place to be in Amsterdam.

We stayed at a lot of Marriott group properties. This is one with mixed feelings.

When we arrived we were greeted at the reception desk. The lady only spoke English. Not an issue for us but somewhat strange since we were in Holland.. then she asked for my credit card only to ask me to approve an amount of 75 euro more the our rate. Her explanation was to cover minibar and drinks ordered to the room. I never experienced this before. So be prepared to pay in advance at this hotel..

The ground floor of the hotel is very nice and modern. The food and drinks in the bar are nice but a bit expensive but hey this is Amsterdam.

The rooms are somewhat old looking. However very clean  the bathroom was a bit odd . the bathtub with the shower in it was very small. The ceiling was also very low so taking an shower was somewhat difficult. Strangely build!!

The next morning at 6.30 we got a wakeup call which we didn’t order. We wanted to sleep in so no luck here.. after 30 sec again an phone call. This time a real person to ask if we got the wakeup call. We were not amused to say the least… I can understand that this can go wrong but the key is how do you solve this! No response from the lady on the phone. When we mentioned this at the front desk no real response other the sorry…

Dear Guest,
We always appreciate hearing from our guests regarding their experience in our hotel as we consider this one of the most valuable tools to meet our guests expectations. We would like to apologize for the wakeup call that was not intended for your room and appreciate your feedback to insure this does not happen again. The amount for incidentals is a hold on your credit card, the hotel does not charge anything unless something is used or consumed upon departure from the hotel and regret if this was not clearly explained. We look forward to the possibility to welcome you back to the Amsterdam Marriott in hopes we can regain your confidence in our service and reputation.

Kind regards,
Meredith Opten

Stayed at the Marriott Hotel for New year 2013-14 located in a lovely district of Amsterdam, not too far away from the activity but quaintly placed next to Vondelpark and the Museumplein district. The staff were always happy to help you with a smile and offered a high level of expected service from a Marriott hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean, and exceeded expectations. The bar was a nice place to relax and catch up with some work, however a little on the expensive side although this is to some extent expected in any city hotel.

Would definitely recommend, at every Marriott hotel I have stayed at there has been a level of good service and consistency.

Beautifully located - the moment you step put of the hotel, you can keep walking straight to all the adventurous places that Amsterdam is famous for. The Canal passes right in front, so you can take a nice boat ride on a beautiful morning or just keep walking straight and you will find the famous Grasshopper. The hotel is surrounded by some really nice resturants and at night the place turns into a party zone. Hotel rooms are nice, but parking is a pain and expensive. I will give it a 7/10

Room Tip: If you book early you can find a reasonable rate hotel nearby. very good if travelling with Family

Dear Guest,
Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm over the location of the Amsterdam Marriott. The square of lights, otherwise known in Dutch as Leidseplein is a magical spot in the city just steps away from the hotel, and often one of the best places to watch the vibrant city come alive. And the location is very convenient to the airport and the central train station with an abundance of public transportation available including the famous canal boats. We were also glad to read that you enjoyed your room and look forward to welcome you back to the Marriott for another wonderful stay.

Kind regards,
Meredith Opten

This is a super hotel to stay in whilst travelling to Amsterdam.

Lovely clean hotel, always a beautiful site to see when returning from a long day on the cobbles of the dam!

Will be returning to this hotel for sure.

We stayed here for a stag do in early February. There were around 20 of us who ended up staying 4 in a room with 2 per queen size bed. We still aren't 100% sure whether the best man messed up or if there was some sort of confusion. While slightly cramped the beds were very comfortable and the rooms very large. We had breakfast included which was very nice and much needed a couple of mornings. There are a few bars and restaurants surrounding the hotel but the main square is just a 15 minute walk down the main road opposite the main entrance.

Dear Guest,
We were happy to welcome you and your group to the Marriott for a special weekend in Amsterdam. Our extensive breakfast in the Midtown Grill is great way to start your day before exploring the city, and the extended hours in the weekend (until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and until 12:00 on Sundays) makes it extra convenient for those enjoying the night life Amsterdam has to offer. Thank you again for your review and hope to see you again soon at the Marriott.
