“Great location in center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

Good location located next to most attraction. Rooms spacious and with all comfort, clean and godo quality. Bed is extremely godo standard. Staff is very friendly. Cigar lounge, bar and restaurant. What is missing was free wifi. Breakfast a bit caotic the service. Probably staff shortage.

I stayed in Amsterdam Marriott for a couple of days - most of all great location. Nice and clean room, small bathroom though, not to functional, but clean and tidy. Nice breakfast also a restaurant offers good selection of meat. A lot good things to say. Newspaper in the morning alongside with the invoice for bar drinks from night before (weird).

What a fabulous hotel, perfect location on busy pretty square with lots of shops and eateries. Hotel was clean and comfortable with spacious room, bed linen was very crisp and the beds extremely comfortable. I had read reveiws of staff being rude but never experienced this, in fact quite the opposite with nothing being to much trouble. Special thanks to the lady who checked us in for providing maps and info on places of interest locally. Dam square was a 20 minute walk away through an abundance of shops which was awesome. The breakfast was superb, lots of choice to suit all requirements and very plentiful. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return.

Room Tip: Ask for room over looking the square if you like to people watch.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your wonderful review on Trip advisor. It was a pleasure to read how much you enjoyed your stay and that the comfortable clean rooms and outgoing staff exceeded your expectations with a warm welcome combined with an abundance of local information. From December 6th to January 19th, the Amsterdam Light Festival will begin for all ages, in which the historical center of Amsterdam will present a unique décor for an international light and water festival. Thirty different light sculptures and projections will illuminate the city, so should your next trip be in the upcoming holiday season this is a wonderful event which shouldn’t be missed. Thank you again for recommending the Amsterdam Marriott and we look forward to welcome you back again soon.

Kind regards,
Meredith Opten

Do not expect any customer service at the Amsterdam Marriott. The only helpful employees here are the housekeeping staff. The minute we walked in it was if we were in there way somehow. The front desk staff rudely checks you in, the concierge has an attitude that you are putting him out when you ask for simple things like directions etc.. We were staying here for a conference at the RAI, so we made the mistake of eating at the hotel as we had some very long days. The service in both the Sorel and Midtown Grill are horrid. The first night we had dinner and drinks at Sorels. The place was maybe half full at best but it took an hour to get our food and then it took 45 minutes to get our bill. After asking our server twice we finally walked to the bar and asked for the bill again. You basically have to flag down a server for a drink, if not you will never be served. If you plan to go for a great dinner stay away from Midtown Grill. Two of us had ordered the 12 hour Short Ribs. One came out just fine, mine on the other hand was a full plate of fat and grizzle. When I asked to the waiter to take a look at it he came back with yours is twice and big as the other..... Wow so if you order something and its twice the size of another just deal with it even if you cannot even eat it. They did however in the end see that it was not edible and take off the bill. The fact that they tried to serve it questions the management at this place. I stay 60 plus nights a year at Marriott properties and this might be the straw that broke the camels back. Time to look at SPG properties.

Overall, good hotel, except for the small-sized rooms. They were definitly not 30 sq. m as claimed, maybe twice smaller.
Excellent location in the center of the city, walking distance to museums, flower market, park, canal cruises. The breakfast was also perfect and varied.

This hotel is centrally located. There is a bus/tram stop nearby that will take you directly to the airport for 4 euros, faster than a taxi. It is within walking distance to museums, like Rijksmuseum, etc. It is also within walking distance to all the flower market and most downtown locations. the hotel itself has a nice fitness room. The actual room was average for Marriott, not bad but average size. We had a family of two adults and one child and requested a two queen. Upon arrival they said they´d be happy to put us in a King with supplement, but alas! after we agreed, there was a 15 euro charge. I guess they charge you for most things in Ámsterdam, so I´d say it is common practice. As you can imagine, it rains a lot... By 8am all the umbrellas were taken. So if you need a nice big umbrela, complimentary from the hotel, you´ve got to be early. They rent bikes, which is very convenient!!!

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience in the Amsterdam Marriott. We were glad to read that the location was great for you and your family to get around and that the Schiphol Sternet bus#197 from the airport to Leidesplein was both economical and convenient. These are local buses which travel four times an hour from 5 a.m. until midnight and takes approximately 40 minutes. And we agree, the fall weather this past month as brought a fair amount of rain but we are hopeful for a white Christmas and ice skating on the canals. We look forward to welcome you back to the Marriott again soon.

Kind regards,
Meredith Opten
