Stayed here from 9th thru 11th May. As always excellent service and I love the Marriott beds - hard to get out of in the morning.
Great location
Great service
Great if you are like me and want comfort and no one bothering you during the stay. Maybe not so great if you like old world architecture and local feel from a small hotel.
Amsterdam is a fabulous city. Friendly people, fantastic buildings, clean as a whistle (except the canal but hey - its in a city so...). I loved strolling along the canals with my wife and stopping for coffee here and there watching the world go by. She loved the shopping and relaxation. Weather was fantastic whic halso helps.
If you are looking to get there from Schipol get the train to the Central station (€3.60 from the airport per person) and get the number 2 tram outside the station door. (The central station is the terminus so the 2 only goes towards the Marriott at that point). Pay €1.60 per person to the driver and it will pass up through the town centre, past the flower market on the left (beside a canal) and keep an eye out on your right immeditately past a big busy square (you will have been on the tram about 5 minutes and you will be taking a sharp left turn at this point) for the Marriott in big red letters on the hotel across the road. Get out at the next stop and it is 5 minutes walk or less back. we got ripped of with a taxi who brought us round the city from the station for 20 minutes. Not a pleasant start but if you are a reasonably seasoned traveller the tram is easy and efficient.
