Me and my buddies stayed here for two nights during our yearly cultural journey to one of the bigger European cities ("cultural" meaning everything from visiting museums to real heavy drinking). Excellent location at Leidseplein where all the action is. A little distance from the Red Light District, but never mind, take a cab. Excellent staff, excellent bar. We never had breakfast at the hotel, but I am sure that was excellent to. Not the cheapest of hotels i AMS, but if you take advantage of the various internet offers, you could get away with it at a reasonable price.

Booked for 3 days as a stop on the way home from the East. When booked I inquired about the cancellation policy, as always. I was told that I would be liable for at least one night, even if I didn't stay at all. Upon arrival, I had become quite ill and informed the desk at check-in that I would only be staying 1 night. The desk attendant said that was no problem and that they would credit my credit card for the 2 nights. Another person overheard this and the whispered into the clek's ear and all of a sudden their policy changed!!!! I was stuck with payingfor 3 nights despite leaving the next morning!

I won't even go into the intenet problems! That it didn't even work in the guest rooms, as promised, was the least of the issues.

The room was OK, but "European" small. The location is great if you are into the art museums but pretty far from everything else.

Would not stay there again. Amsterdam seems to have many better options.

I just checked in 6 hours ago, when I entered the room there was a very strong smell, like some kind of air freshener trying to cover up a rotten smell. I should have requested a new room immediately, I opened the window, hit the sauna, ran out to see the city. After coming back to my room it was better (of course), but still smelled a bit rotten. Had to close the window (cold outside). I called the front desk to see what they could do about the smell or the room, the gentlemen said he would get back to me. It has been over an hour, no one has called back.

A few minor things I would have overlooked but with the room smell they add up: the sauna had no towels, another guest asked if I knew where the towels were, also went to order room service, there was no menu, had to call twice, 40 minutes later they brought a menu.

Overall I would not recommend this hotel. It is beautiful place, but the service is very poor! Wish I had a better review.

When I arrived at the hotel, I was very glad I booked this hotel! The hotel was very clean, and the staff were very courteous.

I was even more elated when we arrived to the room. The room was very spacious and very clean. It had a very nice TV in the room. One of the channels showed the live camera of the street outside.

It had excellent amenities.

There was a small gym and a sauna downstairs (in the basement area).

The hotel was in a very good location, and it was definitely well worth the money! :)
