“Long weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

This was are second time staying here. It's within walking distance of the train station and very handy to the centre.
The rooms are very clean and tidy. Depending what floor your on depends how big your room is, so ask for the first or second floor at the front.
If your thinking of going for the breakfast go for it. Great location and friendly staff.

Die Port van Cleve is an excellent hotel and it's location is prime with regards to exploring Amsterdam on foot or using the trams which stop right out side the hotel. I loved the breakfast and felt for me, it was worth the money. The rooms are a nice size for two people. The staff are very friendly and helpful. When I was booking, the first day was in my price range but then each day from there got more expensive.

Room Tip: My room didn't have a view of the road as I looked into a courtyard but this could have been why...

Excellent location for this hotel. Just beside Dam square and very close to anything you want to see in Amsterdam. Eating is not an issue: just outside you will find plenty of restaurants. Shopping is at hand with all shops just around he corner. The room was clean but rather small. I was in a business trip, so I didn't care that much. Suggested.

The best part about this hotel is its location, but the hotel rooms are also nice. The service was as good as expected from a 4 star hotel. I think the best place to stay in Amsterdam is close to Dam Square, and it was only 2 minutes walk from there. Restaurants, shopping and seightseeing closeby.

The elevator was a bit slow, but if you prefer going to sleep early, you should ask for a room on the higher floors, in case you get a room towards the main street where the trams pass by.

The building used to be the Heineken factory back in the days.

Room Tip: Rooms towards the main street will have trams passing by outside the window

We booked and paid months in advance and asked for nice rooms as it was our friends 1st visit to Amsterdam
Arrived at about 6 pm and were shown their standard double room. Ours was room 213.
It was clean but very small and the bed was like a hammock. We moaned and were told that was the size and standard of their normal double room.
The next day we were able for an extra Euro 20 per night to upgrade. We moved to room 307 which was very nice.
The staff, service, bar restaurant etc. etc. is great but don't take their standard room without inspecting it first.
Regards
Ray

Room Tip: executive room or higher grade

I been to Amsterdam a couple of times and each time i've been woken up very early either by the building next to me starting building work at 6am or the bin men and street cleaners also starting 6am but as I said i'm nitpicking the hotel and the room were very nice big and roomy but the windows are quite thin so there not much sound proofing if you are on the first floor you hear all the sounds from the street. oh and you will have to pay €20 when you checkout.

A VERY spacious triple room. Extra bed is very comfortable (unlike most hotels). Super clean and excellent housekeeping too!Complimentary tea and coffee in the room. Staff are very friendly, especially Mr. Karim at the front desk.
Staff helped us with our baggage twice. Once when checking in and once while moving from a double to a triple room.
Amazing location, practically IN the lively dam square. You could however have a good night's sleep as the windows are thick. A few minutes walking to the famous red light district as well. Restaurants and shopping are all near. Shopping is nice at the Kalverstraat which is a few mins away.
The taxi ride from/to the airport is a fixed price of 45 euros. We were 3 people so we ended up paying 15 eur each.
The hotel is a bit expensive, but it's 4 stars and worth the money. Overall an excellent experience. Would surely go again!
