Like the previous person, I was anxious that I had made a mistake in booking the Van Cleve because of all the other posts but it wasnt nearly as bad as they've said. We stayed there for 4 nights last week and my two friends and I agreed that we would definitely stay there again. O.K., it's not the lap of luxury but we had an extra single bed added to a twin room and we still had an adequate amount of space. We didnt eat in the restaurant but did have a couple of snacks in the bar which were great, especially the Platter of Delight. The lift was a disaster - one was out of order for the duration of our stay but fixed as we were checking out. It's definitely the slowest thing I've ever come across. As for location, well, it's fantastic. Dam Square is only a few steps away and there is a tram stop outside the door so we got to try out lots of nice restaurants (www.indewaag.nl is well worth checking out). Would have no qualms about staying there again
