Could not fault this hotel at all, very clean, we had a twin room which was big enough, plenty of choice for breakfast, friendly helpful staff, excellent central location right near dam square, would highly recommend to others and would stay there again.

We went to Amsterdam for my 50th birthday and stayed one night. We wish we could have stayed longer!
We arrived at 8.45 in the morning and asked if we could leave our bags before going out to look around. We were allowed to check in that early, which was very welcome. We had a good initial room but found that the toilet didn't flush.this wasn't a problem as we were going out so just repeated it to the front desk. When we got back a couple of hours later,(to unload the first shop!) there was a letter that we were to move rooms. This was done with little fuss and we got another great room where the toilet did work.......all sorted.

The two big things for us on this trip were that a) the hotel is so central. You can get to most places very easily and as with my wife and daughter, and unload your many shopping trips! b) the staff are the best of any hotel we have stayed at in Amsterdam. Nothing was too much trouble, you could have a laugh and a joke and they interacted with my daughter.

We had room 412 that looked into an inner courtyard but was so quiet. It is an older style hotel but they are refurbishing at the moment. We will be going back there when we next visit

This hotel is so central you can walk to quite a few attractions including shops and your right in the city centre. This hotel is located just to the rear of the royal palace Dam Square. The rooms at the front have a great view of life and goings on in the central area. The hotel is clean and tidy, staff very friendly and rooms have both heat and air con to suit the time of year you visit. Each of these is controlled by guests in the room. I walked from the central station to hotel short walk 10-15 minutes so need to get a taxi just use the train from airport to central station walk out the door and follow signs for dam square, face palace and walk up the right hand side towards back of palace and hotel is facing you.

Room Tip: Front rooms have better views of the tourist areas.

I stayed here in January in a party of 9 for a friends birthday. We stayed for 3 nights room only.the hotel is in a perfect location just across the road from the Dam square.i don't think it is worthy of 4 stars,3+ would be more suitable.the rooms were clean and included tea/coffee making facility's but they could do with being refurbished, especially the bathrooms. I can't fault the staff ,they were all very friendly and helpful.the only thing I would critisize would be the noise at night.our room was at the back of the hotel and it was very noisy all night long,I really had trouble sleeping at all.the hotel bar is expensive for drinks but so is most of Amsterdam.Amsterdam is a great place to visit and most of the museums are very reasonable. It is not a cheap place to visit though, but a must at least once.i would definitely go back and would more than likely stay at this hotel due to its location.

Dear 350neo,

Thank you for writing a review about your stay. We regret that the city noise bothered you during your stay. Because our hotel is situated in the middle of the city center there is always something to see or hear.
Last summer we have started with the redecoration and partial refurbishment of the hotel rooms. At the beginning of 2013 we started with the replacement of the bathrooms as well.
We hope we can welcome you and your friends again when you decide to visit Amsterdam again.

The wife and I spent 3 nights here at the beginning of January, booking through Expedia.

The location was perfect for us, very central and easily walkable from the train station. All of the sights we wanted to see (Anne Frank House, Museums, Heineken Brewery) were also walkable, we didn't use a taxi or a bus / tram at any point during our stay.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we took advantage of a late checkout for an additional 10 euro.

As other reviewers have said, rooms are small but nothing unusual for a European capital. No complaints about cleanliness, and the building is really beautiful with loads of character.

If we were to return to Amsterdam, I would definitely stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend for couples.

I went to this hotel with my two boys for a 18th birthday present for my youngest.Really easy to get to, go downstairs from the airport terminal to the city trains pick up a single ticket to Amsterdam Central from the machine (about 3 euros) find your platform and its about a 20 min journey.Simply follow the road out of the station directly in front of you and its a ten minute walk to the hotel which is just behind the church on your right as you enter Dam Sq.Hotel is over 4 floors we stayed on the second floor in a room at the front.Room was clean, large and functional.TV ,coffee etc.The bathroom was a bit dated just plain white tiles but everything worked fine hairdryer ,shower etc.We had two single beds and a double sofa bed.
The breakfast was exceptional 5 or 6 different juices ,tea ,coffee cold fruit ,cold cheeses and numerous meats and a full hot selection eggs bacon beans sausage etc .A plentyful bread selection and all the cakes and jams etc.The dining area is something you would imagine in a turn of the century hotel flambouyantly decorated very nice..There is wi-fi free throughout and access to a free terminal at reception, also a selection of newspapers.Any bits and bobs you need can be bought at a local large supermarket two minutes walk away.Only minutes from Dam Sq and no more than ten minutes walk from all the major attractions this is a very nice hotel and would certainly stay again.Thankyou.(I would recommend my room number but I will certainly want it again and cant let out too much info ) :-) .
