We had a very pleasant 2-night stay at the Kras. Situated on Dam Square opposite the Palace, it was a prime location. Bus and tram stops are right across the street, so it was easy to get anywhere. The hotel itself was inviting from the lobby onward. We arrived early in the day, yet a room was ready for us. It was clean and well appointed. The business center was handy, and the front desk staff was pleasant and eager to serve. We would stay again if the occasion arose.

I was disappointed with the room, which was ok in size, had a big balcony, good bathroom and comfy bed, but no better than average. Not five star. The hotel was really rather ordinary. It was not at all 'Grand' and in places scruffy. Although the central location and extravagant breakfast (champagne!) redeemed the experience, the service was not great, (no ice bucket as requested, long wait at check in, wrong information, confusion over bill etc etc). Look around before you choose your hotel.

Perfectly located on Dam Square, this certainly maintains the ambience of a traditional European 'Grand' Hotel, with comfortable public areas and decent service. My bedroom, although not the most modern in the world and suffering from noise outside late at night, was large and comfortable. Very pleasant, but more four-star than five.

Don't be duped into renting one of these "luxury apartments". I rented a two bedroom deluxe for a week and it was filthy and disgusting. I checked out the following morning. Words can not describe this experience other than to say that I felt like I was in a ghetto. The hallway entrance should have been my first clue as the carpet is torn and filthy, the walls are filthy and it just gets worse from there. I will say that the night manager that I spoke to was very professional and polite vs the girls at the front desk who giggled and laughed when I lodged my complaint. I am very puzzled by some of the other reviews regarding these apartments and their glowing comments. I cannot believe that the hotel is even associated with these "luxury apartments"; it is false advertising to describe these as "luxury apartments". I will never stay at the Krasnapolsky again!!!

And yes indeed you do wander aimlessly through the kitchen to get to your "luxury apartment". I recommend you keep wandering right past them to the Pulitzer or the Dylan. Luckily, I was able to get a room at the Dylan so my trip wasn't completely ruined.
