Ideally located in Dam Square though a little too close to the red-light area if you want to avoid that sort of thing.

The room was small but perfect - I've never seen a bed so big before!
They even give you a choice of pillows. The staff were all attentive and polite.

Didn't have breakfast at the hotel as we thought it was a bit pricey, but there are loads of place to eat nearby. Did try the room service and that was excellent.

What a place....from the moment we entered the lobby, every single employee that we encountered on our 5-night stay made a point to greet us. They were quite friendly and accommodating. We were upgraded to rooms in the Royal Wing, which faced the south side. The rooms lacked for nothing. I do imagine, though, that some rooms at this hotel could be a bit noisy depending on the time of year and if people are out on the streets and in The Dam to late hours. We celebrated my parents anniversary while there; and the hotel staff didn't miss a beat with remembering it with handwritten notes and chocolates in their room along with champagne and a beautiful cake at our breakfast in the Winter Garden restaurant. Location is perfect and very convenient to Centraal Station (10 minute walk). The trams stop directly in front of the hotel. Restaurant prices in the hotel can be pricy....but there are plenty of eateries nearby. We'd stay here again....definitely.

The location is great. It's right in the center, on the beautiful Dam Square. We got a great deal (Expedia) on this hotel. We paid $130 for a standard room (regular rate was $450). The room was nice, very large, quiet and seemed to be newly redone. It was facing a side building though, but you could still see the square. The bathroom was large and clean with towel warmers (nice treat in late November). The city is enchanting. Lots of things to see and do. Great food. I hope to go back to Amsterdam and if would love to stay at Kras if I get similar deal.

Can be a good hotel in a great location. The only thing I'd be aware of is the big difference in rooms. Some rooms are bigger and nicer than others. Lots of variations. I've stayed here numerous times and have seen at least 5 different styles of rooms in the same price catagory. If you don't like where you're at, ask to change. Has a really nice buffet and bufett room though, and all the services of a big nice hotel. Not a first choice for me, because of the room variation. We often have to go for conferences however.
