“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. We stayed for 4 nights and we didn't need to use public transport once throughout the trip as the hotel is in a great location. The staff were all lovely. The room service knocked on our door at 9am which I wasn't very happy about.

The only thing is that it really didn't feel like a 5 star. It was more a 3-4 being honest. That doesn't mean I would recommend staying here but just don't expect a 5 star.

My numerous stays at the Kraznapolsky are one of the main reasons I have visited Amsterdam 17 times.

It's a straight walk up from the Central Station. It's in the heart of the Dam district with it's colorful Red Light District, some of the finest coffeeshops in the Netherlands, and great outdoor eating.

The trolleys are easy to use and at the ready, and its close proximity to the Central Station make it easy to get to the airport or travel by train across Europe.

My favorite feature is the glass high-ceilinged restaurant off the lobby. On the coldest days you can go to great room filled with light and delicious food. They also have a chummy bar with cold Heineken.

It's a bit expensive, even for Amsterdam, but one should stay at this stately hotel if you can.

Great, centrally located hotel. Older, traditional large hotel always busy. Breakfast buffet amazing set in fabulous art deco room a real experience. Staff very helpful only slight negative was the gym opening times it was not open in the evenings with limited opening hours during the weekend. Most tourists are out all day so would do a workout in the evening. Our room a little noisy due to busy location.

Great hotel, friendly staff, centrally located. The only down point is the €200 per night deposit after you pre-pay for your accommodation. We paid in full with the hotel Group before arriving and then asked for €400 deposit when we arrived.

This hotel was Fab!!!
We stayed over valentines so it was a busy period but it was not overcrowded in the slightest.
We arrived before the check in time and they let us check in early. The room was spacious and modern. The breakfast included in our rate was out of this world. It was a substantial buffet like I have never seen. There was also free prossecco every morning. We stayed for three nights and on Valentines morning each lady was given a rose and there was a white chocolate fountain with dips, lovely touch. The location of this hotel is great for any tourists visiting Amsterdam for the first time.
Free wifi cards also given out.
We will certainly be coming again and staying in this hotel.
Thanks to all the staff, very friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the front for a good view of Dam Square

Great hotel right on Dam square, central too everything,Hotel a little bit dated in the public areas but adds to the charm of the place. check in /out was very well organised and friendly, nice hotel bar with very good bar staff,Breakfast out of this world.Only small thing to pick up on was only one robe, and one pair off slippers in room not a 5 star touch. Amsterdam in general very nice, stay away from the Euro bar on Dam square,8 euro for a pint.
