This was our first stay in Amsterdam and we chose this hotel due to its location in Dam square. We did not plan in advance how we would get from the airport to the hotel so we just took a taxi not aware of the time it would take or the cost. It was about a 20 min drive from the airport and was 40 euros. Probably could have been cheaper but we were just eager to get there. The hotel really is in the center of the city. The lobby was okay. Service was slow at check in as the receptionist checking us in was constantly interrupting us to answer the phone as other workers were standing by. The elevators were tucked far away from the reception in an area that looked nothing like the lobby. It was near conference rooms and had a completely different feel. The room itself was very clean and modern. We had a great view. The bed was not very comfortable and the 2 pillows were extremely flat. The shower/tub can be dangerous. I fell getting out of the tub because it is very deep and there are no rugs on the floor or anything to hold on to. It was easy access to the tram system and there are a lot of things within walking distance. I couldn't imagine a better location. I will probably stay at this hotel again when I return because of its location.
