“Great accomodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I've just recently come back from a holiday in Amsterdam with a group of 10 people that I had organised through cooperative travel from the 24th august - 28th august 2015, and got a deal of £150 per person for 4 nights, on a mini super-cruise, where we stayed one night on the cruise and two nights in Amsterdam at this hotel and another night on the cruise back home. Baring in mind the price, we were not expecting such a hotel to be that great, due to the amount we had paid, however it turned out that the hotel rooms were more than what we expected, they were clean, and spacious, and presented quite well, and there was house keeping everyday. An extra friend came along who didn't book the holiday with us, also came last minute, and as the rooms were at the rate of £82 a night, she managed to get a bed in a room of three, which was made for four, and only paid €50 which meant she was staying at a hotel for €25 a night! And this was last minute. This would of been only a little bit more expensive than a hostel, but she got two single beds to herself, as there were only three ppl staying in one, very spacious room. The staff were very friendly and pleasant, even though a group of 18 year olds are not the most cherished group, the hotel was definitely made for all types of ppl, ranging from families to friends. One highlight of the hotel was that it had free tea and coffee drinks available for the people, and had a luggage room, we were expecting to check in at 3pm as we got there for 10am in the morning, when we were told we could drop our luggage off, we were also checked in as there were rooms already available, which was great as it meant we didn't have to waste our time coming back and forth from central to the hotel. Another highlights was that it was literally 10 minute tram ride from the hotel to the central, which was very useful, and it was less than a minute walk to the Artis zoo, which was by far one of the best zoos I've been to! The area wasn't too loud or too quiet, and wasn't that far from central, which meant that it was also walking distance too, if ppl didn't want to pay €7.50 for a day rider, which in my opinion is money well spent. We couldn't ask for a better hotel that had so much convenience, we will definitely be returning again soon, and we thank the staff for making our stay a very lovely experience. 10/10 I would recommend this hotel.

I agree with the majority of the views on here, however for a cheap-ish stay it was good value. We paid £170 for 2 people for 2 nights.

Pros:

1: Easily accessible from centre. Numbers 9, 14 tram from Dam to Artis.
2: Very friendly helpful staff.
3: Comfy beds.
4: Good wifi
5: Free very tasty coffee in reception

Cons

1: Pillows bit too soft
2: Bathroom smells damp and you can smell sewage.
3: Duvets bit too heavy for summer. Room gets very hot.
4: Bitten by Mosquitos, you have to have the window open as its so hot in room!

We would stay here again. It's what you would expect of 3*. You don't come away to sit in your room all day. As a base its fine!

Well there were building works going on right next to the hotel so our sleeping pattern was heavily disrupted. It would have been nice if we were informed beforehand and we should have complained but I honk we were too British to complain. It was quite average but the staff were lovely. The hotel rooms are very tiny, my friend and I asked for two twin beds and were given two single beds. So be warned! But it's 15/20 mins to the city centre and is a lovely walk to the city centre.

We only needed a hotel for a base, so really can't complain, we were ground floor corner room with 2 huge windows, beds comfy and all very clean.

Bathroom was internal facing and had a drain smell, but this did not deter our stay.

Free coffee in reception a great touch too. Tram stop just a 100m walk away, you get trams 14 and 9 to and from Dam square etc.

Nice cafe next door called coffee and art which did a spot on English breakfast, not many places do it.

Very basic room, nothing to flash was a bit upset they never told us about the construction site mess next door , and the room did have a interesting smell, the shower is very poor , no fridge or anything , so basically very budget accommodation. 15euro per person for breakfast was steep for what was on offer, especially with so many cafes close that had better fair for less. And the toilets, wait till you see them, perfectly situated so that you morning business can rest and stare up at you. Very interesting, however bed was comfortable , I didn't particularly like the two singles pushed together however that seems quiet common in Europe when you ask for a queen. No aircon, however fan provided. The windows don't open far so it was stifling hot even with fan . Also expect to be woken by people stamping up the hall and slamming doors as everything echoes as we could hear everything people in neighbouring rooms spoke. However in saying this , was a great location.
