“Delightful hotel in a wonderful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

Lovely hotel on the Prinsengracht. We had a Superior room with a canal view and balcony on the 5th floor. It was spacious, had a lot of natural light and a good cooling system. We were able to walk to the Anne Frank house, Flower market on Singel, get a Lovers Canal cruise at the Leidesplein, and walk to the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum from this hotel. We took the Fyra train from AMS Schiphol Airport to AMS Centraal train station and then bought a GVB chipcard and you can take tram # 1 or 2 to the Leidesplein stop. It is only a 2 block walk to the hotel from the Leidesplein. To get oriented when you get off the tram look for the corner with the New York Steakhouse and the Randstadt store. Walk down that street past the Starbucks, McDonalds and the hotel is on the left corner across from a bakery.

Was an easy walk into Amsterdam and to the Rijksmuseum.
We had a Comfortable bed and large room in quiet part of the hotel. Was close to lots of places to eat or drink. Friendly staff at the reception area.

Could not get into my usual hotel, Banks Mansion, on this trip but the D&T is a good alternative and not far away. Room was a little soul less but we weren't there for long so didn't matter. Breakfast was ok, no complaints, staff nice.
Beware of city tax on check out if you are not used to it here.

Room Tip: Ask for a double even if you are alone, single beds are not big, & ask for the back of the hotel...

The hotel couldn't be better placed than the Dikker and Thijs Fenice Hotel. Out of the door and you nearly fall into the Prinsengracht, one of the most beautiful of the three major canals. The Leidsestraat is the busy if not hectic street which makes the intersection. There are plenty of snack bars in that street, which is convenient but for the noise and activity of the clientele.
If you have one of the rooms on the front of the hotel, be prepared for the surprise of the rumble of trams passing. I don't even notice them anymore!
There are plenty of rooms set back which are very very quiet. And even bigger!
If you drive to Amsterdam, park at the Olympian Stadium 6€ for 24hours and a free tram ride into town. The Prinsengracht stop is right in front of the hotel door, or equally from the central station a direct line.
The hotel staff are delightful and charming. The rooms tend to be large, comfortable with very nice bathrooms.. the penthouse is a real pleasure.
The ambiance is very warm and pleasant and makes a change from the endless "business" hotels one stays in.
Breakfast is nice, not really special but that seems to be how the Dutch like their breakfasts!!
Bearing in mind how expensive hotels are in Amsterdam, I have often got very good rates at the D&T.
I continue to stop by there regularly and thoroughly recommend it.

Can not beat the location for a trip to central Amsterdam as a tourist. I can't say if it would work for a business trip - the amenities are not geared for that. But for a tourist trip it was wonderful. Breakfast was average, the room with the balcony is spectacular. Waking up there and walking out to the flower market - WONDERFUL.

We stayed at this hotel in March. It was in a nice area. The concierge was good and recommended fantastic restaurants. The room were clean. Stayed with my family, children included and we had a nice time. Near restaurants and shopping. Fit my criteria of European hotel.

This was our second visit to this hotel in the prinsengracht of Amsterdam. Great hotel but could offer a bit more luxury for the price. The rooms in the hotel are very large, but seems to have only twin beds. The Hotel has no parking facilities nor valet service and finding a parking spot in Amsterdam can become a nightmare. At the reception there was only one person during peak times and we had to wait 10mins before being helped

Room Tip: This hotel is close to the Leidseplein, expect some noise coming from the people on the streets at n...
