My husband and I chose this hotel after reading many reviews online about our options. It was a good price, and little did we know it was in a FANTASTIC location! We had the Connexxion shuttle from the airport drop us off there..which I would definitely recommend people looking into. For the two of us it was 32 Euros round trip.

The staff was very nice and helpful, and made sure to wish us a Happy Anniversary when we checked in (which I had mentioned months in advance in an email inquiring about transportation, so I was very suprised).

There was a lift (which I was VERY glad about after reading many reviews about hotels not having them), the room was clean (a little small- but perfect for what we needed) and the view was beautiful.

The only thing I would say is, if it's not included in the room, DON'T eat breakfast there. The food was decent...but it cost us 18 euros a person for breakfast...it wasn't that freaking good!!

All in all, I'd recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam for an AMAZING vacation.

  • Liked — Location, cleanliness, staff
  • Disliked — price of breakfast, and room size
  • Tips/Secrets: — the coffeeshop next door only plays REALLY crappy 80's music. Visit the Abraxas it was the best one we went to there!!!

Great location in the City Center - easy tram ride right to the hotel from the train station. Get a room in the back, rooms with a view are LOUD :) Comfy bed, nice amenities. Would definitely stay there again.

I just returned from a terrific holiday in AMsterdam. The Schiller was a perfect place to stay. Rooms were large, comfortable with upscale toiletries and coazy bed. CLean and modern bathrooms. The breakfast was included on my stay and it was bountiful, with many choices and a beautiful setting. Staff was helpful and professional.

  • Liked — Cleanliness, extras and comfort
  • Disliked — No mini fridge
  • Tips/Secrets: — Bring an appetite for breakfast, it is wonderful

After an expensive taxi ride to the Rembrandtplein (Rembrandt Square), our last stop on our honeymoon tour in Europe was at the NH Schiller Hotel. This could have been a very bad experience as our luggage never made it out of Ireland and my bride severely hurt her ankle in the airport. But the hotel staff helped us every time we needed it. Nice service! The building was old and historic. The paintings on the walls we were told were from the large painting collection of Mr. Schiller. You couldn't get anywhere in the hotel without traveling up or down at least a few steep steps (which I'm told is common in Amsterdam), but at least they had an elevator so we only needed to go down 3 steps on the way to our room. The room was small, particularly compared to the luxury room we had at the Paris Hilton, and the window gave us an fantastic view of a brick air vent (I'm not kidding - sigh). But we were happy to have a place to hang our hat, which along with the clothes on our back and a couple small carry-on bags, was all we had at the time. The first night there my wife woke up in the middle of the night in pain as her foot had swollen from the night before. I went down to the desk and the overnight desk worker was nice enough to get some ice from the bar area. They didn't have any ace bandages but gave us a bandage we could use to kind of wrap her foot and give her ankle some support. Every time we asked for something they went out of their way to help us! (Did I already say the service was great?)

  • Liked — Amazing staff, good location
  • Disliked — Expensive cab ride from airport
  • Tips/Secrets: — don't take first cab in line-negotiate price first

The Schiller's location is pretty cool. Quite some people love the hotel because of the old design, which is cool in the entrance and the restaurant, but the floors and the rooms start to become really oldish. The rooms are a bit small (we're not in Tokyo !), the toilets aren't very comfortable (because of the way they are placed in the bath room). Breakfast is average. Also, if you are there during a week-end, and want a quiet room, avoid the ones facing the place.

  • Liked — The central location
  • Disliked — Size of the rooms
  • Tips/Secrets: — Order taxi in advance if you are in a hurry, can easily take 20-30 mins to get one during peak hours
