“Nice hotel close to where all the action is!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

Loacted very close to the RLD, the hotel is a great place for a short stay. The hotel is located on the canal and the location is great to travel around the city. The rooms are large and sleep quality was comfortable. The staff could however be more comfortable. However, if you plan to spend the least amount of time in the hotel, all the above really do not matter much. The hotel rates are quite affordable which probably makes it the best reason to stay here. The interiors of the hotel are quite confusing and you will have to remember your room location to be able to move around. Also, not very comfortable if you have heavy luggage to tug on your own. We did not get a chance to try out the food there and the coffee shop located at the front of the hotel is nearly non-existent.The hotel offers bi-cycles on rent which are best to avoid as they are of very poor quality and old ones - better to rent them from somewhere in the city if you plan to roam on cycle. Average experience.

My wife and I had to stay here because when we arrived at the “Best Western Dam Square Inn” the front counter let us know they had cancelled our reservation (without telling us) and there were no more rooms available. This hotel was the only hotel that had availability due to some film festival. The hotel cost us 239.00 euro at night ( about $350.00) if you go online they normally charge about $175 less, the price was jacked up due to the lack of rooms elsewhere. The rooms are dark and stuffy. The carpets were stained and the furniture was severely worn and falling apart. The bed had two single mattresses on a queen box spring that kept separating throughout the night. The only nice part of the hotel room was the bathroom which seem clean and the water pressure was great. My wife and will only stay at this hotel again if we have no other choice.

We stayed as part of a lads weekend away. There were 6 of us staying in rooms of 3. The rooms were fine, they could do with a lick of paint but they were good enough for us. Flat screen tv, clean bathroom with a decent shower and the rooms were spacious and the beds extremely comfortable. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel so can't comment on that but all the staff I had dealing with were very friendly and helpful. Without a doubt the main plus of this hotel is the location. It is literally a few minutes walk to dam square and along the way you walk past a supermarket and o'reillys irish bar both of which we used regularly. Would definitely stay here again if visiting amsterdam.

Stayed for 11 nights on business late Sept to early October.
Here are the issues:
This property is very run down... If you think the lobby is bad, wait till you check out your room.
Windows in bathroom and room had very visible moldy grout.
Phone didn't work.
Internet was extremely iffy and problematic.
Furniture looks like it is from the 70's.
Front desk clerk lied about reasons why phones did not work.

This hotel was very basic and disappointing. However, it had a great location and views of the canal were lovely. Our room was spacious, but it was so run down and tired it wasn't true, the paint was falling off the windows and beams, the curtains were filthy, as were the walls and doors. The carpet was stained and so were the bed bases. The bedding was clean and the beds comfortable, the bathroom was equally badly maintained, but was clean. Breakfast was good and the staff were both efficient and pleasant.

While the employees may not seem very friendly, they do get the job done. located on one of the canals, a 2 min walk away from Dam square and a 10 min walk from Central station.

The hotel amenities are basic, so no need to get breakfast (just run down and go to one of the many shops downstairs) also do not forget that there will be a city tax per person added to the booking and a 50 euro holding fee for anything you may have extra.

make sure to book the hotel directly from the website to get the best fare!

Cheers

Room Tip: get a room that overlooks the canal
