“Beautiful hotel, lovely service, and perfect area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2012 via mobile

My girlfriend and I stayed in this hotel from the 2nd to the 6th of march and it was lovely. We have stayed at this hotel many times because the service is very helpful and we are always made to feel very welcome from all the staff at the hotel, The hotel is in a perfect area only 5 minute walk from Dam square and shopping districts, it is in a lovely setting with some nice restaurants nearby, Marielle the front desk manager is always very welcoming and can help with any advice you my require to make your stay a nice one. You can also hire boats cars and bikes from the hotel at a good price Edward the guy who runs this service is also very helpfull and is a nice friendly person to know. with the setting and service this hotel is a must for any visitor to Amsterdam, thankyou we will be returning soon

We have been here for 3 nights for a short trip to Amsterdam, we have been here a few times and I've found the Rembrandt Classic to be disappointing.

The location is great, but that can be said of all central Amsterdam hotels. The City is quite small and almost everything is a short walk away from wherever you are. The breakfast is nice with lots to choose from, and the rooms are a good size and clean. There are lots of English (BBC1 & ITV) French and German channels on the TV.

Unfortunately the cons outweigh the pros.

The hotel is generally quite shabby and very dated, certainly not a 'classic' look, more a 'we have forgotten to renovate for 30 years' look. The furniture in the dining room and communal areas are dark and depressing. Some windows are cracked and the courtyard rear of the property is quite unkempt and unpleasant if your room overlooks it (ours did). It is a great size hotel, and it could be lovely, sadly it isn't.

I think the hotel is popular with the stag party crowd as in the evening there was a lot of rowdy noise that was very distracting. Generally there is quite a lot of noise from other customers.

Staff are friendly enough, however when we checked in, a customer was being dealt with as there was a mix up with their reservation. I can only say the person (who I think was a manager) seemed quite off with them and quite rude. All this while there is an increasing queue of people waiting to check in and watching the whole drama. It could have been dealt with much much better.

They advertise there being free Wifi, this is partly true. There is very slow basic wifi available, however the hotel must subscribe to a certain amount of free wifi as by early evening the free facility goes down and you are prompted to purchase faster wifi. This happened every night, and then you have to wait until 9am the next morning to get the free wifi again.

The price of this hotel may be what attracts many people, however Amsterdam is saturated with good low cost hotels, if you shop around you can get much better value for money, much better surroundings, much better quality and much better service than the Rembrandt Classic.

I recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. While the furniture in public areas and in the rooms is a little outdated it is still a descent 3 star hotel if you visit Amsterdam. Upon check-in we were asked to pay an additional city tax (which is common) and a cash deposit for further expenses. As we did not use any extras at the hotel, this was refunded promptly in cash.

The hotel is located on a quite road, right by a typical canal. The dam square is about 5 min walk away. All main attractions like the Anne Frank house, Red light district etc are close by and within walking distance. The train station "centraal" is about 25 min walk, so I would recommend a taxi when you have some luggage.

Room Tip: Some rooms, have a canal view but the hotel staff will try to sell you a canal view room. I guess, y...

I choose this hotel for my friend to stay in as our apartment is close by. Rembrandt classic, on the herengracht, centrally located, should be great. Nice outside exterior. Unfortunately that is where it ended. As the price was very low and the pictures were so good, we should have been suspect, but anyway. The room was clean enough, but old design, not comfortable beds, just enough to survive, and it wasnt' going to be used very much, just to lay the heads for one night. If you are needing a cheap last minute, this place can go for under 50euro in a good location, so if you are needing something without the thrills and fancy wrapping, it would be ok.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2012

My husband and I have recently returned from a 2 night stay at the Rembrandt Classic and had a thoroughly good time. Whilst the hotel is slightly dated, it is clean and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The location suited us due to the sights we wished to visit which were all within a 10 minute walk. The only gripes I have is that we were placed in a ground floor room that had a view of concrete (although I requested a higher floor with a canal view) and the 'hot' breakfast selection was always cold. The hotel is good value for money and central to the main attractions.

Room Tip: Request a 2nd or 3rd floor room with a canal view

The location was grand, was about 5min walk into the shopping and food area. the room was clean as from what i could see, not much in it though but fine for if you don't spend much time in the room. The sleep quality for me and my partner wasn't that great as the beds where a bit hard for us as the pillows where really uncomfee
