My Girlfriend and I stayed here for a week in February for our two year anniversary, although we had one of the smaller rooms it was very comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The staff were excellent, very helpful and the facilities were fantastic. Although we decided not to have breakfast in the hotel (we prefered the small patisserie on the next street) the Coffee/Tea/Chocolate facilities in the hotel were a great bonus.

The hotel was in an excellent location, on a very quiet street, and well within walking distance of the station (even with our cases!). The furthest places we visited were the Heineken Expierience and the Van Gough Museum, although they were only a 20 minute walk from the hotel... We especially enjoyed sitting on the benches outside the hotel by the canal...

The rooms were very modern and nicely decorated, with a great TV! We will definately stay here again on our next visit to Amsterdam and would definately recommend it to friends..

I spent 3 nights (June 1-4) at Estherea with a friend. Never been in an Amsterdam hotel before but the reputation of hotels there it's quite bad, therefore - after careful consideration of other Tripadvisor's members! - opted for it, especially after getting an excellent rate through the Otel site. The Hotel is in an excellent position, about 5 minutes walk from Dam Square (possibily the busiest and noisiest place in Amsterdam!) but it's located on a lovely, tree-shaded canal street and therefore has a pleasant, quiet location. Indeed it's so centrally located that we never took a tram during our stay to wander around the whole of the city centre! Even the Central Station is about 15 minutes walk (if your luggage isn't too heavy of course, otherwise it's just a short trip with tram). The room we got (511) was on fifth floor and in the back side, therefore absolutely quiet. It was reasonably dimensioned (not a "large" room but we managed to find a place for 2 luggages and 2 backcpacks without bumping on them at every step). Everything was spotlessly clean, most importantly the bathroom, where towels got changed every day. The service was awesome, people at the door always smiling, courteous and full of help. Also the buffet breakfast was plentiful and of good quality (several different types of bread, good brands for jam and cornflakes, etc.); there was also free availabitlity at all time of coffee/tea from a machine behind the main lobby, which was very welcome after a day of walking in the cool air of this "fake summer"! I will definitely choose again the Estherea if I will return to Amsterdam!

Lovely hotel in a quiet but central location on the Singel canal. Only 3 or 4 minutes walk from Dam Square. We (2 adults & 2 children) spent 3 nights in a quad room on the 4th floor, with 2 sets of twin beds. The room overlooked Spuistraat rather than the Singel canal, but it was a good size, light and airy, with an ensuite bathroom. Room was spotlessly clean and had a TV with UK channels. Safe in room for valuables. Breakfast buffet was from 7.00 - 10.00 and included continental breakfast, fruit, and cooked. Breakfast was Euro 14 for adults but free for children and good quality and value. Free coffee, tea and hot chocolate available from reception area until 11.00 pm. Small bar near reception. Staff were friendly and helpful. No restaurant in the hotel for evening meals but we ate at a couple of restaurants recommended by the hotel within 5 minutes walk (Casa di David on Singel and Haesje Claes on Spuistraat) and both were very good. We would certainly stay at the Estherea if we visited Amsterdam again

As good as the brochure/web site, lovely room, spotless luxury throughout, immaculate white sheets every day, etc.,yet still homely and friendly.Excellent location, peaceful yet central. Can't wait to go back.
