We stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights in mid February.

Upon arrival we were upgraded to a canal view room free of charge which was a great start. The room was beautiful - a very decent size with a sitting area and a compact but very clean and well equipped bathroom.

The on demand tea, coffee and chocolate in the lounge area was a real plus and the beautifully appointed library was a gorgeous place to sit and read a book or the newspapers provided.

Breakfast was excellent. Bacon and egg available for those who wanted something a little more substantial along with the traditional breads, rolls, meat, cheese, yoghurt, fruit etc.

English TV channels available in the rooms along with a well stocked minibar and safe.

The staff were very efficient, polite and friendly.

It is so well situated, very near the centre but quiet location. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to any first time visitors to Amsterdam.

My wife and I stayed at the Estherea for our 20th wedding anniversary. On arrival we got a lovely warm welcome and a surprise basket of celebratory freebies in our room. The view from our window was of one of Amsterdam's numerous canals, very picturesque!
Our room was clean, nicely decorated and really only lacked tea and coffee making facilities. Mind you all we had to do was take up the complimentary coffee from the lobby up to our room!
The hotel itself is very inviting, lots of dark wood, old books and leather sofas. The staff were always friendly and courteous, always willing to help and answer questions.
Amsterdam is a fantastic city to explore and the Estherea's location is ideal for getting to all the sights.
All in all we had a fantastic time...do visit Anne Franks' house and do eat in the little cafe bar "De Prins" opposite the house on the other side of the canal....brilliant food, nice vibe and cheap!
I can thoroughly recommend the Estherea and Amsterdam; we had a lovely time.....despite the rain.

We stayed for two nights on our honeymoon in the Estherea, we opted for a canal view room which was well worth the extra.
They gave us an absolutely beautiful room with a four poster bed and a gift pack to congratulate us!
The free coffee/hot chocolate 24 hours is great and there are really comfy sofa's and seats with books to read and you feel really welcomed there.
The foyer is beautiful too.
Location is fantastic, really easy to potter around and are some brilliant european cafes/bars really near by.
Price was really reasonable too.
If you are going for a romantic weekend in Amsterdam, or wanting to do the city (rather than take in the dope cafes and seedier end of town - although admittedly we did go for a walk round that area!)
then this is definitely the place to say.
Highly recommend, it made our honeymoon!
(We also avoided breakfast there due to price and found a lovely place 4 doors down that was really nice and much cheaper).

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for five nights. She is a bit of a bathroom snob and is wary of European bathrooms. In this case, the bathroom met her standards: large tub, plenty of room, large sink bowl. We also appreciated the 24 hour coffee in the lobby. The staff was very attentive and their command of English was excellent. The bed was comforatble and spacious.
It is also in a good location, near a lot of things but not too busy. As was the case with another traveler, we were occasionally disturbed by a bit of nighttime noise outside our window, but it was nothing extraordinary. Amsterdam is, after all, a big city.

My husband teenage daughter and myself arrived at this beautiful hotel on a cold snowy day and were greeted by a friendly member of staff who advised us that there was free tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the lounge all day to warm ourselves up. we were then shown our room by a member of staff and shown where everything was and our to use the safe. The only draw back was that there were not many drawers in the room but this did not matter for only two nights. My daughter was on a folding bed and did not worry. The room was large and warm and the bathroom lovely. There were two sinks but I would advice anyone that is fussy to take their own shampoo. I had read a previous reviewer and packed some. As well as the hot drinks there were biscuits and sweets around the hotel and very much appreciated after the cold wet walks.

The hotel recommends several restaurants and we tried one two minutes walk at the back of the hotel it was Dutch and the food delicious we also tried an Italian that they recommended and the food was also very good.

The breakfast although expensive at 14 euros was delicious and set us up for the day and gave us the chance to try Dutch cheeses and some of their jams.

Our room was warm and we even managed to watch English television enjoyable on a very cold night
