5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2014

I stayed third time in Estherea, and will come again. Only points with"very good" a room size- this is small and noise from street onSunday night. Overall I am very satisfied.

I like the possibility to have cafe all the day and some small benefits - late check out, bottle of Prosecco...

This hotel is a real gem. From the first moment of entry and the huge, kaleidescopic tropical fish tank in reception and the study in pink which is the bar, you know you are in for something special. All rooms (I'm told) are individually decorated to a high and slightly eclectic (but never tasteless) style. Ours was blue almost Delf patterning and dark oak and as comfortable as any hotel I have stayed at. The room was large, bathroom compact (but a comfortable bath and occitane soaps and lotions) but what really did it for us was the public rooms and the level of genuine friendliness of the staff. They really seemed to get on with each other as well as the guests and nothing was too much trouble. Booking direct also got us a free bottle of proseco! Not cheap, but excellent value for all that.

I had previsously visited AMS the week before and stayed and the Room Mate Aitana, whose location was a bit off but the rooms were very spacious.

Estherea is the opposite: excellent location with very small rooms. I stayed at a room with a queen bed, which is supposed to accommodate 2 people. I was lucky I was alone. Had I been traveling with my spouse, we would have had problems. There was not enough room to open my bad and my hand luggage.

Another problem I had was with the wifi. Even though I was on vacation, I had to deal with problems at work which demanded high speed internet. Unfortunately, it seemed we were still in the early 2000's when it came to speed.

So, even though the hotel is at an excellent spot in the city and it is beautifully decorated, I would recommend a larger room, which means more money. And for more money, there are better hotels.

Room Tip: Pay more for a larger room. The regular ones are claustrophobic.

We had a really wonderful stay here. The staff could not do enough for us, even though our set of reservations was a bit complicated, answering all our questions, moving us as needed, so that our rooms could be close to each other, as well as meeting our needs in so many other ways. The rooms are rally beautiful, comfortable beds, sizable bathrooms with nice bath products…overall a terrific hotel---and we travel quite a bit.

Room Tip: Many of the rooms have a nice view even if they are not overlooking the canal.

The pictures looked great, the hotel emails were very helpful, but when we arrived to check in everyone said Wow! After checking in and seeing our rooms (there were 14 of us) we were even more impressed, and so it continued. The staff could not be more friendly, helpful and understanding. The rooms and breakfast were a delight. It is hard to get excited about decor especially as a "bloke" but even I couldn't help noticing how impressive it all was. As others have commented the location is brilliant. Ps. So was Amsterdam (again)

Room Tip: All 7 rooms we had were excellent, however we had a canal view and it was a nice extra.

The excellence of the staff has to be commended, they were so helpful, courteous and friendly even sorting out problems with my IPad. We had a canal view, the room was cosy and comfortable and the location was convenient, next to the 9streets great shops and boutiques. Easy access to transport system and short walk to Dam Square
Would highly recommend Hotel Estherea and hope to return in the future

We stopped for a long weekend, great location very central, quiet location we had a canal room which was lovely. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We would recommend this hotel we enjoyed a lovely cup of tea on return from a day sight seeing.
We didn't eat breakfast here but at broodie Bert which can also be recommended.
