Hotel Estherea is a fabulous hotel and quite accomodating as well. We just returned from our travels which including this hotel and loved everything about it. Clean, wonderfully helpful and pleasant front desk staff and exceptionally large room for European standards. Easily accomodated me and two kids with lots of room to spare. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cookies are always available to guests...a huge perk for a quick snack since Europe is so expensive these days for American travelers...a coffee break anywhere in Europe can easily run $15-$20.00 these days. Fruit is usually also left for guests as well as small cakes if they are left over from the restaurant. The hotel has a wonderfully comfortable lobby as well. Without doubt I would stay here again.

The hotel is in a great location - just around the corner from lovely restaurants and bars but still quiet.

I found the price expensive but then all hotels seem to be expensive in Amsterdam. We paid 220Euro for a Friday and Saturday night in July.

Rooms are small but adaquate and very clean. The bed was comfortable, the towels were fluffy.

We did not eat at the hotel so I can make no comment on the menu. However, they do have good coffee in the lobby, small pastries and toffees. A nice addition.

One complaint I have with the hotel is that the tiles in the bathroom are quite slippy and on the first night both I and my partner slipped when stepping up into the bathroom. Although I lost my balance I didn't fall, my partner did and banged his elbow.

The second complaint is that it is unreasonably expensive to use the internet facility in the lobby. You pay 5Euro for 30 minutes when for the total cost of the accommodation, the internet facility should be free. We needed to check our flight reservation which would take 5 minutes yet had to pay 5Euro for the facility.

I would rate the hotel nice, great location but rather expensive for the room size etc.

We stayed at The Hotel Estherea for 3 nights in June. What a great hotel....everything that has been said is true...great location, beautiful lobby, free tea /coffee/snacks. There were 4 of us, 2adults and our 2 children(ages 13 & 15). It is difficult in Europe to find either connecting rooms or rooms that will accommodate 4 people. At the Estherea we had a quad room. It was fine for the 4 of us. It faced the street behind the hotel (no canal view),but it was a lovely street view. We had a king bed and 2 doubles with plenty of room. The room also had a desk & chair, plus 2 sitting chairs, a flat screen TV,and a large closet. The bathroom was clean and stocked with nice products.
The real beauty of this hotel was the staff....very,very nice, great advice and restaurant recommendations.
We had drinks at the bar which was nice, but never had breakfast at the hotel. If you walk out of the hotel, turn left and make a quick left at the side street, on the right side there is a great bakery (3 minute walk)...we got fresh treats in the morning and had them in our room with coffee. The breakfast price at the hotel was a little steep at 16E per person.
Be sure and take Mike's Bike Tour while in Amsterdam...it was one of the highlights of our trip!!
If you have any questions let me know!!
Happy travels!

Rooms are small- have a hard time thinking of a room being much smaller. It is very clean, and in a good location- central to many things. Staff is so so- not overly friendly. Initially gave me a first floor room which was quite loud due to street- they did agree to change that. They charge around 7 euro to use the internet- so i went to an internet cafe. Not a bad place if you are just going to be sleeping there but if spending a decent amount of time in the hotel may consider other places due to small room. The elevator also didn't go down from the floor above the lobby on the day I was checking out- so had to carry suitcase down a flight of stairs- for the price you pay it certainly isn't what you get in the US .

We stayed at the Estherea for 3 nights at the end of our honeymoon. I am so glad TripAdvisor is available, as I would never have found this gem otherwise. The hotel is tucked into the quiet Singel Canal, in a great part of town.

Our room was #210 and looked out over the Singel. The street itself is very quiet, and while it's only 1 or 2 blocks from all of the action, we could never tell while we were in the room! All we could hear out of the windows is the everyday hustle and bustle of Amsterdam (think bike bells!). Our room had a double bed and a sitting area with a desk, plus of course a nicely appointed bathroom. The products in the bathroom were wonderful and the towels were very lush!

There is an area in the lobby where they serve free coffee, tea, candy and cakes all day and night. Plus, fresh fruit! There is also a bar area that is fully stocked, so you can get a drink at any time, plus they have the most wonderful mint-flavored water available (that's free!).

There is an elevator but you can also take the stairs if you are so inclined.

If you exit the hotel and turn left, there is a Greek deli/restaurant that serves up AMAZING, authentic dishes. It's great for a quick bite!

Lastly, I cannot say enough about the staff. In true Dutch fashion, they were patient, gracious, and willing to help with any request....all with a smile!
