Great hotel with good rates located on a canal. I travel to Amsterdam 8 times a year for business and have been let down by a lot of hotels but not this one. I was looking for a good value as I was spending the weekend on my own dime. The hotel is charming and squeaky clean. Service was very good. Room very nice. Would definately stay here again.

Hello - I booked this hotel based largely on the reviews here. I have to say the reviews were spot on and the hotel was fantastic. The only exception from the reviews was that we had great customer service (this has been complained about in the past). I am picky and felt they were great. The night clerk was very lazy but heck he is the night clerk. All the others were very friendly and helpful.

I wilI not repeat all the same good reviews as the past, I will only say they are true. I felt that, although pricey, it was a great value for all you received and the location. We had canal view room 514 and loved it. It is small by US standards but larger that many other european hotels I have been in. Perfectly comfortable for our 3 nigth stay. The bathroom was huge.

There is a great bagel shop two streets up for breakfast.

Stop looking this is a perfect spot!

REALLY LIKED:
- Location (short walk to Dam Square and Anne Frank House, reasonable walk to Red Light District)
- Neighborhood (great restaurants nearby and a lovely little shop selling yummy broodjes right at the corner)
- View (see photo)
- Comfortable bed and perfectly clean (albeit a bit small) bathroom

DID NOT LIKE:
- Cost - I realize that accommodations in Amsterdam in general are not cheap, but next time we'll put more of an effort to find something less costly.
- Expensive breakfast - Their breakfast buffet is tasty, but we didn't realize that it would cost us an extra $16 Euros per person. (A total of $32 Euros.. for breakfast! That's US $50, the same price as a mind-blowing sashimi breakfast for two at the famous Daiwa Sushi in Tokyo.)

We stayed at this hotel on a short break before Christmas. We have 3 kids under 10 and we had a "family" room that was really 2 rooms that joined behind a common door. It was great for us because it gave some privacy while still having the kids right there. The location was great although we didn't walk much as the weather was quite cold. The staff were wonderful and very accepting of the kids. The hot chocolate machine in the lobby makes this one of my kids favorite hotels in the world!! Great overall experience!
