My wife and I stayed in the Hotel Estherea for three nights and really loved the place.

First of all, when we arrived quite a few hours before check-in time, they did their best to get the room ready for us. And when it was ready, we were brought to the room where our bags were already waiting for us. A nice start!

The room itself was lovely and overlooked the peaceful Singel Canal. The room was unusually decorated, as was the rest of the hotel, and definitely not like your usual generic hotel.

Breakfast was a bit on the expensive side at €14, but was a very decent spread.

Downstairs in the lobby, there was a small bar and library, with tea/coffee/hot chocolate making facilites and little cakes left out. This was all so cozy and welcoming that I was happy working from the lobby for two days ...

We've previously stayed in the Krasnapolsky in Dam square, which seemed a bit soulless and overpriced compared to Estherea.

All in all, this is a very nice, unusual and welcoming mid/top-range hotel.

  • Liked — The cozy lobby area
  • Disliked — The fairly pricey breakfast and wireless internet

Hotel Estherea was a delight! We so enjoyed it, that my children groaned about leaving. First, it has a lovely and welcoming public area with warm lighting, wood panels, and leather sofas. It also has a small bar and a library-- to top it off, there is 24 hour a day hot chocolate and coffee available, and the hotel puts out pastries, cookies and candy. This was a big hit with the kids, and they would look forward to return from cool, wet sight-seeing to sit with us and sip cocoa! The rooms were comfortable and tastefully decorated, and the bathrooms spacious and well equipped. Photos do not capture how lovely it is. We will definitely return. What a delightful place!

Have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Hotel Estherea.
We were delighted with the hotel. The location is very attractive being on one of the cannalls (Single) and is central so many of the sights are within walking distance.

The decor is fab if not a bit over the top with dark reds velvet, tassels and chandeliers everywhere.

Staff are helpfull and polite and the rooms are comfortable (we were on the 4th floor with a stunning cannal view).

The breakfast buffet (E14) was worth every cent.

We would stay again deffinately

We have just returned from a 3 night city break with our 2 children and were delighted with our hotel choice.

We used the fast & efficient train service between the airport and central station. The hotel is a 15/20 minute stroll, if it's not raining, and its central location means that pretty much everything is within walking distance - although the trams are easy to use when legs get weary.

The room (419) was ready for us on arrival at 1.00pm and there was plenty of space for all 4 of us - no canal view, but the windows open onto the interesting cityscape. Our bed was large & comfy, and the large sleigh-like sofa converted into 2 single beds. The bathroom was small but adequate. We found the staff friendly and helpful and the whole hotel felt spotlessly clean & well maintained/decorated.

The breakfasts offered plenty of choice, including hot (bacon, sausages & eggs) and cost 14 euros per person (children under 11 free). However, there are plenty of cafes nearby - a couple of good ones 5 mins walk looking out onto the flower market - and offer much cheaper alternatives.

There is plenty of choice for restaurants in the evening. The hotel recommended the Haesje Claes just around the corner, where we enjoyed the typically-Dutch, and very filling, food. There was a childrens menu and prices were reasonable.

All-in-all, the Estherea is a great base from which to enjoy this fascinating city.

  • Liked — Comfortable public rooms and bar to enjoy waitng for rain to stop!
  • Disliked — No real gripes.

Stayed at the hotel in February, and it is very nice, staff is very professional. However, I thought the hotel was noisy. The hotel is especially noisy in the early morning as guests check out, with wheeled suitcases, doors banging shut. The hotel is charming and quaint but for the price I think you can do a little better.
