“Lovely stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

This is an excellent hotel in a great location by the side of a canal in the centre of Amsterdam. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed in one of the "deluxe" rooms with a canal view, which was well worth the money. The room was enourmous, very comfortable and the view from the windows was great.
The hotel had a very relaxed atmosphere, we particularly enjoyed the free hot drinks and the large aquarium in the lobby.

Great hotel and room. Strange layout with the toilet the other side of the room from the bathroom but very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and we will most certainly be returning. Location close to Dam Square and all the main attractions.

This is a very nice cosy hotel in the center of Amsterdam. Lovely decorated rooms, very comfortable beds with nice soft sheets. The breakfest was fantastic with a lot of choice:
warm and cold dishes sweets and fruits; you could even have a glas of bubbles.
The service was outstanding. During the day you could take a nice cup of coffee with cookies.
In the bar you can have a drink. You also get as many salt snacks and a water with rose and fresh mint for free. Next time we come to Amsterdam we will be back.

Not perfect - but I challenge my own good self to find a better hotel to stay in.
Outstanding staff - all of them, without fail. If only the rest of the world were so well trained, polite and obliging.
Room serviced breakfast was more like a feast.
Public areas informal yet smart, free coffee and cakes a lesson to other hoteliers than charge for everything from ice to dust.
Location - superb and splendidly atmospheric after dark.
Will stay again, cannot recommend enough!

Room Tip: Canal view would be quieter in mornings.

The location is great and the rooms (while tiny) are very plush. The staff was also very helpful and spoke good English. They allowed us to check in hours early after a redeye. We especially enjoyed the cappucino machine and the flavored water and candy/snack selection downstairs. The decor is also great -- at first it seems very classic and then you realize that everything has a modern twist.

My only complaint is that the bathroom door is not solid, which means that sounds and smells from the bathroom circulate freely into the tiny bedroom. Not the best choice for a romantic hotel.

We got upgraded when we arrived and loved the room we subsequently got. The best thing is it's superb location, on a quiet canal and yet, so, so central, being just a short walk from Dam Square. We hired bikes just a block up from the hotel (Orange Bike Rental). While the hotel does not have a restaurant we did not really see this as a major negative as there were so many restaurants just a short walk away. The communal rooms were excellent to relax in and there was a small bar. However, the Irish Coffee was very poor. The gym looked small but was of no interest to ourselves.

Overall would definitely recommend the hotel as its location is so good and the rooms and communal area were excellent. It is a little pricey, but you will not need any taxis from here.
