“Unique and Friendly Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Stayed with my teenage daughter in a twin deluxe room with spa bath. Beautiful decor and very high housekeeping standards throughout the hotel. The staff were superb, very efficient and friendly. The hotel is in a great location within easy walking distance of all the main attractions in Amsterdam. The only minor downside was being able to hear most of what our neighbours were saying in the room next door probably due to the fact that the rooms could be interconnected so there was only a door between us and them. However this would certainly not stop me from staying at Estherea again.

This is the second time we stay in hotel estherea and I can say that thier standards are intact and everything was as good as we stayed last time if not better.

The free coffee and cookies are always appreciated especially in cold weather, while enjoying the cozy feeling given by the hotel lobby.

The location is really great and close to all attractions and services.

Estherea is very conveniently located. A short walk gives you access to most of what Amsterdam has to offer. Our room was very comfortable, a little bit of noise early in the morning due to tradies at work on upgrades but that is only temporary. Nice shower & spa bath, separate wc, nice room furniture and convenient lifts. Secure parking is expensive, Breakfast was average and the bar was convenient.

Room Tip: There is better value breakfasts 10 mins walk away. Alternative parking should be considered.

We sprung for a room facing the canal and it was worth every Euro. Great location, free coffee and treats in the lobby was a lovely touch, and a decent gym. Very helpful in making restaurant reservations. A great place to stay in Amsterdam.

Very helpful and friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. Lovely relaxing atmosphere. Exciting boutique style decor to a high standard of finish. Fabulous tea/cofee machine in foyer for use during stay. Excellent location. Menu choice very good. Would certainly reccomend and hope to return

Estherea is an amazing hotel with a kind of quirky beaty. There is such an attention to detail, from the gourgeous flower arrangements to the complimentary water bottles in the room fridge. There is also free minty water, lemonade, tea, coffee nd sweets in the lobby. And what a pleasant lobby it is! The room was large and generally quiet, although there was some minor disturbance from the room above us due to squeaky floorboards. But it is an old house and it was not arel problem. Rooms renovated, ultrafresh bathroom. Appreciated the anti-slip surface in the bathtub and the beds were possibly the most comfortable we have slept in in a hotel. Staff attentive, knowledgeable and kind. Hotel situated very nicely away from noisy areas but still within walking distance of almost everything. We do recommend this hotel to anyone who likes a hotel away from the standard chain hotel but still wants comfort.

Room Tip: Our room was large and quiet, but did not face the canal.

This is a solid 4 star hotel. Nothing more, nothing less.

The location is perfect: almost everything worth knowing in the city can be reached by foot or a short tram ride.

Some information that you won't find on the hotel website:

- The breakfast is expensive but very good, with homemade breads, bacon, eggs, fruit ... certainly more than you need and eat at home;

- There is no free internet in the rooms (today this is almost a lack of respect to the traveler);

- some employees are very nice and attentive, others seems not care to you;

- They lend umbrella without cost for use during the day;

- Some rooms (on the same category) are very quiet and others, very noisy (especially those facing Spuistraat). So if you are a light sleeper like me, advise at time of booking (though most hotels usually don't guarantee room location in advance)
*** Keep in mind that this is a historical hotel in a historical building, so the walls are thin and the wood floor may squeak sometimes!

Room 515 is nice and quiet (although not overlooking the canal). But hey, In Amsterdam you see the canals all the time, right?

If I would stay in this hotel again? Yes, but only if I could get a good rate.
