“No Hotel More Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

Other hotels in Amsterdam may manage to parallel the beauty of Hotel Estherea, but to surpass it would be a feat. What it gives up in size it makes up in opulence. It's like living in a late 19th-century bourgeois mansion, recently redecorated. The hotel was very hard to want to leave even just to explore the city, and I confess that on two of my five evenings I just stayed in. I wasn't the only one. The stunning rooms off of the lobby were peppered with guests, reading, using one of the free computers, contently chatting and enjoying a brandy. The hotel is central enough to be a few minutes' walk from the crazier parts of town (red light district, coffee houses, the Dam), but makes for a perfect refuge on the quiet, graceful Singel canal. They are always delicious snacks out for the guests; a copious breakfast and wireless internet are also offered. The staff are young, friendly and eager to help. A week after I checked out they helped me with a small, Amsterdam-related problem that had nothing to do with the hotel! The maid service is impeccable. Stay here and it is likely to be one your most memorable hotel experiences.

All the positive reviews proved true. If you like the ambience of a small, old-style, cozy hotel, this is the place to be. Come to Amsterdam and enjoy this hotel on a quiet but central neighborhood, with a view in Singel canal, lovely decoration, comfortable bed and moderately large bathroom.
Breakfast a bit expensive (18 euros) but good, and served in a lovely room

Excellent family run hotel, great service, rooms a little small but the only slight bad point. Perfect location and excellent value.

We stayed at Hotel Estherea in June (my husband, myself and 2 teenagers). We had 2 rooms that were adjoining so we could open the door and have one "suite". The hotel is stunning although the rooms are quite small, nice tub and separate shower.
They offer coffee, naturally flavoured water and small goodies in the lobby, any time of the day. The bottled water in the rooms is complimentary. The staff were friendly and helpful with all of our questions and requests.
The location is great..right across from the canal, walking distance to Anne Frank (10min), Van Gogh and other museums (25min) and Central Station (15min). I found the area quite noisy during the night, but Amsterdam is a lively city. Perhaps the canal side is quieter.
If you are coming by car, you may have difficulty locating the parking garage...it is unmarked and on a street behind the hotel. We went to the hotel lobby and one of the staff accompanied my husband to the garage.

My fiance and I stayed at Hotel Estherea for 2 nights last week. It is situated at the heart of the city, a very short walk away from the Royal Palace and Dam Square as well as De Bijenkorf shopping mall. It is also within walking distance to the Anne Frank House and other attractions. The only downside was the loud drilling noises during the day. Plenty of restaurants around and overall we had a pleasant stay!

Stayed here in November 2010. It was a great quaint little hotel. The hotel was beautiful and in a great location. Right outside the door you have the city center and a main canal. Lots of restaurants are nearby. The canal view rooms are comfortable and beautiful. Ours had a big window that opened to the road and canal and a four poster bed. Definitely would stay here again.

Room Tip: Pick one facing the canal, great people/boat watching

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Estherea. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable. We did not get a canal view but found our view of the street in back of the hotel interesting to watch. All of the staff we met were helpful and courteous and we received good restaurant recommendations from the desk staff. We did pay in advance for the breakfast as we like the convenience of a hotel breakfast. While expensive, the breakfast did not disappoint as there was an extensive, delicious selection. We would happily return to this hotel.
