“Great location in centre of Amsterdam”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2010

The Tulip Inn Amsterdam Centre is ideally situated in the city centre, within a few minutes walk of several tourist attractions, including Dam Square, the Royal Palace, Nieuwe Kerk, Oude Kerk, Magna Plaza shopping centre and the famous Red Light District of Amsterdam. Thanks to several tram, bus and metro stations and the nearby Amsterdam Central Station, the entire city is easily reached.

We have recently stayed for 3 nights at Westcord, and found the location to be fantastic. Less than 5 min walk to train staion, and stones throw from Dam Square. 10 mins walk to Red Light. Cafes, restuarants and coffee shops all need by. Everything is within easy walking distance.

The room was modern and clean. Small, but you would be hard pressed to find anything bigger for the price. Bathroom was less than private (frosted glass walls) and might be an issue for new couples, or friends sharing a room.

The buffet breakfast was great VFM, and good quality. Hot options changed daily.

Staff were helpful and friendly, room was cleaned each day.

Wireless in each room, or free use of internet in foyer.

We would definitely stay here again. It was nice coming back to the room at the end of each day.

I spent a saturday night here with a travelling companion before moving on to Den Haag. My previous stays in amsterdam were in a B&B style place in rembrandt sq and a hostel in prinsengraht, which were both good.

First impressions- excellent location, 5 mins walk from amsterdam central station, right along a main tram line- so easy access to the rest of the city.

The hotel lobby itself was very stylish, staff were polite & considerate. This was costing us ~130 euros for a twin room deluxe per night- so i did expect it to be much nicer than the previous places i'd been in.

The room however was a bit of a let down- since we were on a corner- our room was a weird L shape which made it seem quite cramped- bear in mind that we went for a deluxe and not a standard room. The decor itself was very nice, modern fittings + small flat screen on the wall.

Now my 2 biggest complaints about the room was firstly the bed- our twin room consisted of 2 VERY small single mattresses side by side (we actually had to call reception to check this was a twin room). The other complaint was that they had opted for a glass door for the bathroom. Now part of the glass was tinted- but considering this is NOT a room for couples- someone should have realised that possibly you don't want to see your friends showering or sitting on the toilet?!?! (am i a prude???)

In summary- excellent location, fancy decor. But the deluxe room didn't seem amazing value for money and felt cramped and the bathroom situation left quite a lot to be desired..... So not recommended for mates travelling together, but for couples i'm sure it ticks all the boxes!

We arrived at about 11.30am and were allowed to check into our room - The staff were very friendly and informed us of the city tax that we would have to pay on departure.
We were given the offer of a room facing the street or one inside the hotel - We chose inside the hotel, (room 206) we didnt have a view but there was no noise from the street - (although the street the hotel is on isnt that busy anyway)
The room is small but cosy, I was travelling with my girlfriend so wasnt a problem for us. The beds are very comfortable and the pillows even more so!!
The bathroom can cause problems for those of a shy disposition but ultimately didnt affect our trip (you can always ask your partner is wait outside!)
The room was lovely, hairdryer, towels, safe, tea and coffee, few magazines about Amsterdam and you even get a few British tv chanels
The hotel is perfectly situated between the Central station and the Dam Square (about 5mins away either side)
It is also within walking distance to most of the main museums.
I dont have any negative things to say about the hotel - at least not from my experience - the breakfast is a little expensive at €15 but we didnt pay - you can always walk across the street to a few restaurants which offer full english breakfasts for €5

This is a great hotel and I would stay again if we go back to Amsterdam. I would highly recommend it.

Travelled with my partner for one night to Amsterdam. The room is small but has got all the amenities you would expect from this kind of hotel. The bathroom gives not much privacy being a glass cube with just the middle part being screened out, which was ok for us but if you would share with a friend you are not to close with, it could be a problem. Also the lights in the bathroom are not ideal if you have to put make up on. That are our only negative points. The reception staff is really helpful and informative. The location is bang on in the city centre - just a stroll from the train station. We didn't try the breakfast, so we can't comment on this, but there are plenty of breakfast choices around the hotel.

From arrival to departure, everything was spot on with this hotel!

We arrived before 11am and were able to check into our room immediately, which gave us the chance for a much needed sleep after the overnight ferry!

The hotel is well located and very easy to find - 5 minutes from Centraal Station, Damrak, Dam Square and the Red Light District.

The room was a decent size, enough space to unpack and leave cases open etc. The bed was comfy and the pillows soft. The only downside to the room would be the bathroom which is basically a glass cube incorporated into the main room. No good for shy people or for partners of those with a toilet aroma - there is very little privacy!

We loved the check out time of 12pm and were even more grateful that there was a secure luggage room we could store our bags until we needed to collect them prior to catching our bus.

An excellent experience and I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Great spot to stay in, very centrally located, 5 min walk to train station. Great restaurants around the hotel, walking distance to Red light without being in the Red Light district. Rooms were quaint, and clean. Bathrooms have glass walls, but don't worry the glass is frosted where it matters. Loved it.
