“Really good ... apart from the see through bathroom!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2010

Stayed with a group of friends for 2 nights. The hotel itself was ideally located near the station (a few mins walk) and easy to find. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room we had (deluxe triple) was clean, modern and spacious. Didn't have any meals in the hotel but there were plenty of places nearby

The one downside was the bathroom, partitioned from the main room by a frosted glass wall. Pretty disturbing to be able to see your mates in the room while you're sat on the toilet!!

Aside from the privacy issue, we really enjoyed the stay - nice hotel, good location and good value for money.

Me and my Fiancé stayed here for one night in June. Having been Amsterdam a few times before and knowing the area I'd say this hotel is placed in the best part for everything! Just outside is the the trams to everywhere and anywhere. You can nearly see the train station to your left and dam square to your right!
The hotel lobby and reception are really nice and modernly classy. Our room (411) was spotless and felt massive compared to the"normal" sized rooms in Amsterdam hotels.
Hotel provides tickets for every attraction in Amsterdam with cheaper rates for some attractions too.
Breakfasts are an extra 15 euros per person. I thought this was pretty expensive so decided to go the shop next door that has great fresh fruit outside, but one drink of orange and some grapes came to 10 euros so i now wish i would have just gone with the hotels breakfasts.
The satalite tv is quite good. internet also.
The only slight problem i would say that was wrong with the hotel is that the old windows let a lot of noise in from the tram stops outside the hotel. Our timing was pretty bad as they were half way thru construction of the tram lines so outside the hotel was kind of a building site. Not the hotels fault but the noise from the trams was very noticeable all night.
All in all i loved my stay at the westcord and having been in other hotels in Amsterdam i think next time i return it will be to westcord from now on.

Comfortable room, friendly welcome and within walking distance of the Central railway station. The tram stops just outside the hotel so the location is brilliant. Many restaurants, cafes and shops on the doorstep.
Not the cheapest hotel, and breakfast was offered at 15 euros/person, a little expensive in my opinion. We headed out into the city and had breakfast in a different cafe/restaurant every day. I highly recommend the Dutch pancakes!
The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the bathroom spotless. My husband was delighted to have free wifi access.
However, I would not recommend this hotel if you are going to share the room with a friend. The bathroom is basically a corner of the room partitioned off by glass (frosted to half way up) and therefore neither private or sound-proof! Not a problem if you're sharing with your partner of 25 years, but probably not so suitable for friends (even good ones!).

Although a little expensive for the size of the room the location and staff made up for this. We arrived early expecting to leave our luggage however we were able to check into our room early and even given a choice depending on how quiet we wanted it to be. Its a good job i stayed with my husband as i'm not sure the glass door on the bathroom would suit those who don't now each other too well or are a little conservative! Wev didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, at 15 euros each we felt it was too expensive however you are within easy walking distance to plenty of other options.
Having a kettle in the room was great although it is kept in a drawer with no label on it so its not that easy to find. The shower could have done with a non slip mat however that is the only fault we could find. The staff on the desk couldn't be faulted, they were very attentive without being intrusive they also have local knowledge invaluable for local transport saving us over 80 euros.

This is an awesome hotel in a great location in Amsterdam.

Location - GREAT (3 mins walk from Central Station, 5 mins walk to Dam Square, 5 mins walk to Red Light District). The tram stops at the hotel door. There are loads of bars and restaurants nearby the hotel so you dont have to worry about food at all.

Room - Super clean and cozy room with a modern setting and very clean and good size washroom. The room size is small but that is expected at any hotel in Europe. However, they made the best use of space and had great decor.

Service - Great. My laptop could not connect with their wired ethernet port in the room so they provided me with a Wireless pass to connect to the internet free of charge. They will do most of the tour bookings for you at the hotel itself.

I would definitely stay here again!!!!

This hotel is very close to Centraal station and makes a good base for seeing the city, especially for those only in Amsterdam for a short while. The public areas of the hotel are clean and decorated in a modern style as are the rooms.

The main issue we had was that our "twin" room had two beds which, while made up separately, couldn't be pulled apart and the bathroom has glass walls which are frosted in the middle, but it was still a bit too public for us two prudish brits. The room was on the small side, but I've stayed in smaller and it was adequate for our needs.

Overall, a nice hotel, which would have been great if it was just me and the wife, but the room wasn't really geared up for two individuals.

We stayed at this hotel last month for 3 nights. Very close to the train station, great location. But unfortunately, I can't recommend staying here as my husband and I were feasted upon by bedbugs. We ended up covered with bites. An unfortunate ending to our otherwise great vacation.
