“Get Amsterdam off to the right start!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

The staff at this hotel are spectacular and go out of their way to make guests feel comfortable. I arrived very early in the morning after having stayed at an awful place in Amsterdam and the hotel management at The Toren not only made sure that I got my room right away eventhough check in wasn't until 2/3pm - but they also provided me with complimentary breakfast to help start off the morning right! The hotel is also located close to some amazing local pubs!

My husband and I stayed at The Toren last month and had a wonderful experience! The rooms were spacious--especially by European standards--with a lovely bathroom and a view of the courtyard. The reception desk/concierge were amazing. They helped with restaurant suggestions, and other activities to make our time in Amsterdam delightful. They really were spectacular on the day we were leaving and supposed to take a train to Paris. We found out that the trains were on strike. Mieka at the front desk called several airlines and was able to get us on a flight and arrange for transportation for us quickly and efficiently. I highly recommend The Toren.

Our stay here was a last minute substitution and it was a great one! The location (next to Jordaan neighborhood) is absolutely perfect. The canal view was amazing. The area was quiet at night and lively and interesting during the day. It is within walking distance to so many different things; museums, good food and drink. Really just a lovely place with lovely staff and great room amenities.

Room Tip: Opt for a canal view, it is amazing!

From the start the staff made us feel extremely welcome. The hotel is small and funky in its decor . They have two old mansions about 100 feet apart. We stayed in the annex which was lovely. Interiors are a little masculine but well done. Everything had been modernized in terms of lighting, bathrooms, etc. Lovely garden area out back of the main building. The bartender, Sebastin, makes a mean gin & tonic. This is near the Anne Frank House in the Jordaan area of Amsterdan, a quiet neighborhood near enough to everything. Stay here and you won't be disappointed.

You cannot beat this Hotel, amazing interior design, great breakfast, and the staff is incredible! I have stayed at Ritz Carlton's and never got this level of service from the staff. You feel like you are staying with family/friend in Amsterdam, and their only goal is for you to have an amazing time. Also, the A/C was excellent. Nothing like spending a day in the hot Amsterdam sun and coming back to a cool room to relax. The drinks at the hotel bar are great, you get 2 drinks with your reservation, so do NOT miss the opportunity to try this great bar.

Room Tip: Some rooms are smaller than others, but all are great. Simply ask the hotel to help you fit a room...

Excellent boutique hotel very well located literally around the corner from Ann Frank's house and one of the canal boat stops. Beautifully appointed room that made the most of the available space. All of The Toren staff are outstanding - they really care that you have the best of stays with them. We were offered complimentary breakfast on arrival for all the days of our stay and a welcome drink in the bar that just added to the positive ambience of the place. Amsterdam is a great city to visit with some great venues such as Ann Frank house (heartbreaking), the Rijks Museum (superbly renovated recently), Rembrandt's house (amazing to stand in the room that was his studio for many years), the canals and countless bistros and restaurants, but the people in Amsterdam are its lasting main feature - everyone we met was generous and kind, reflected no less than by the staff at The Toren.

My family of five just wrapped up a month-long safari holiday in East Africa with a 24-hour stay at The Toren in Amsterdam. After they arranged transfer for us from the airport (which we could have easily managed by train, were it not for all our hard-to-carry duffel bags) we were warmly welcomed to this stylish hotel on one of the prettiest canals in Amsterdam.

Despite the early hour (7am), they quickly handled the paperwork and put our luggage in storage until we could get access to our rooms, then invited us to enjoy the lovely breakfast buffet laid out in their sumptuous bar/dining room, free of charge. We spent the morning exploring the (posh, quiet, gorgeous) area around the hotel, including touring Anne Frank House, which is only two blocks away. Everything is easily walkable from this central location.

When we eventually received our rooms, I was impressed with how spacious, luxurious and pretty they were. The beds are soft and comfortable, with excellent linens. The bathrooms are beautifully appointed and when I took a bath, the water pressure was high and the tub generous and comfortable. My three teenaged/college aged kids shared a large room with three beds that was more than ample for them. The hotel even arranged to start breakfast early so my family could eat before our 7am departure. I would recommend this place to anyone and we will definitely be back!
