My husband and I recently stayed at The Toren for a long weekend. It was a very nice clean hotel in a great location, easy enough to walk to all the main attractions but far enough away for it to be a peaceful area. The hotel is actually in two separate buildings that have 2-3 houses between them. We were in the 2nd building that was only bedrooms and it meant a walk outside to go to the hotel bar, reception and for breakfast, not that this bothered us but I know people like to know what to expect. Our room was very clean and comfortable, the only down side was our window was in a lightwell which meant as soon as you put your bedroom lights on you had to shut the curtains so other guests couldn't see in, it also meant that when it rained the noise echoed as it bounced off the metal pipe in the lightwell and was SO loud. I do think however that most Amsterdam hotels would be similar as all buildings are narrow and long so barely any rooms will have views. Overall though a great hotel with real character.
