“Perfection!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2011

For a romantic weekend away you couldn't better the Toren. Everything was perfect, the location was spot on and the hotel was so opulent it was stunning. I have never experienced better service in a hotel, there wasn't any exceptions, every member of staff went out of their way to help and advise. The rooms were immaculate, not the largest but adequate. The bedding was beautiful and the bed was so comfortable it was hard to get out of it. There was champagne on ice when we arrived which was a lovely surprise. We had a canal view which was a real bonus, we would sit with a coffee before breakfast and watch the boats motoring up and down the canal. Although we were at the front of the hotel it was never noisy. Breakfast was beautiful, couldn't fault it and our pre-dinner cocktails were as good as they get. Can't really fault this place at all, but I'm not sure I would take my kids here. No specific reason other than it feels very much an adults only hotel due to opulence and intimacy of the place. In fact I didn't spot a child the whole time we were there!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for canal view if possible

I have just spent one night at The Toren while on the business trip. Excellent small hotel in great location, for less than nearby Pulitzer. The staff is very friendly. Bar with a fantastic atmosphere. Rooms well equipped, with very comfortable bed. This could be super selection for romantic holidays.

I am currently staying my last night at The Toren and it has truly been a wonderful experience. The staff: on par with any five star hotel. The front desk staff was amazing, always cheerful, helpful, and took care of anything we asked of them including dinner reservations and directions. Our room was always clean, the bar tenders took care of us the minute we walked in. The decor: rich and luxurious, beautiful color palette. We stayed in a canal view delux room, and I loved watching the boats glide by or the view of the canal lit up at night. The location: we walked absolutely everywhere, Anne Frank house was around the corner, restaurants and shops in every direction.

A straight 5 stars across the board, from the moment we arrived until the time we had to leave. The staff were so helpful, I cannot fault this hotel and cannot recommend it highly enough. They pick up on the little things and to some, like us, it makes all the difference in making this particular hotel stand out from the rest, that personal touch. Your stay here will be one to remember and one you'll want to come back to again and again. Ideally located on the prettiest canal for those of you who want that little bit of peace and quiet after a long day sightseeing.

This is an amazing hotel and I wouldn't stay anywhere else when in Amsterdam. The location is ideal and it is by far the nicest in Amsterdam.
We stayed in a small double which I was slightly worried about after reading reviews about the lack of space. However we didn't find this an issue.
The rooms were spotlessly clean and decorated to a high standard.
The breakfast each morning was yummy and the food was of the highest quality. However, unless breakfast is included in the price I would not pay the 14 euros each. There are so many lovely places to eat around the hotel for a more reasonable price.
Thank you for an amazing stay to all at The Toren!

For business, the Pulitzer. For romance, the Toren. Great rooms, five star breakfast, staff so helpful you never want to leave.

This hotel, situated on one of the loveliest canal streets in Amsterdam is just one block away from the Anne Frank House.
The location is phenomenal...just a five minute walk to the city center (Dam Square) without the noise and two minutes from the quaint Nine Streets district.
The enthusiastic staff at the Toren always go well above and beyond the call of duty to ensure happy guests. After I flew home, a friend sent a card addressed to me to the hotel. The staff got in touch to let me know, offered to scan the card and to send it to me overseas! They always take great care of us, scheduling tours, booking restaurants and offering their best rooms.
The Toren's historic townhouses allow tourists to live like locals.
Some of the rooms are very spacious, clean and all gorgeously Gothic, swathed in burgundy and black velvet. Make sure to ask for a canal view which is well worth the extra charges. You can sit by their lobby fireplace, sip champagne and enjoy tasty strawberries.
My work allows me the option to stay at another well-known five star hotel just down the street, however, I will always choose the five star service at the Toren instead.
