In my opinion Hilton Amsterdam is a nice hotel , which needs a little refurbishment
(e.g office chair , table carpet etc was a little bit worn out- in my room of course and
seems like 4- star in this aspect ).
Otherwise the room was very clean very quiet and quite cosy.
With respect to the personnel behaviour they were always available and ready to help. Breakfast was very nice and plentiful.
The area as far as I am concerned was perfect, friendly people - very safe and very near to museumplein which I was interested in. Tram 16 does a very good job (as you walk outside the hotel you turn right and right again in the ACCENTURE building which is next to Robertos Restaurant - Tram Stop at the end of this 100m road). The metro is available in about 1000m distance ( in front of the hotel if you look straight you can see you will see a very tall building the WTC building which is the metro station).
The metro station sells as well the 72 hours tram - metro - bus card which is most useful.
In the hotel room there are available some nice magazines which gives the names of a few nice restaurants (since Dutch cuisine is not something to mention). If you like some ethnic cuisine you could visit the overtoom street (number 300 or 309) in which we ate ethiopian food - very nice and full of locals. Overall a very nice stay. Would definitely stay again.

My husband is a HHonors Gold member, and we used hotel rewards to stay here for 3 nights. We were not able to be upgraded since the hotel was full (a Gold perk), but they gave us complimentary breakfast for our stay instead. (That actually worked out well since the breakfast buffet cost €30!) I was unhappy with our room at first since we had specifically requested a room away from the elevator, and our room was right by it, but it was not noisy as I had expected.

The room was very nice, roomy, and updated; it actually reminded us of the Hilton Tokyo Bay, where we stayed last year. We had a canal view, which was also very nice. The bathroom was a good size and included amenities like bath salts. There was also a menu for pillow selection, which, unfortunately, we didn't take advantage of, as well as nightly turn-down service. This was like heaven after the room we stayed in in Rome!

The location was approx. 2 miles from the center of Amsterdam, and the hotel is situated in a quiet and an obviously wealthy neighborhood. The location was a little inconvenient at times, but the tram stop was a 5-minute walk from the hotel and took you to Museumplein, the Rijksmusem, Dam Square, and Centraal Station. However, it took time to get to the main area with all of the tram stops.

Service was impeccable, just as it had been in Tokyo (American Hiltons could use a lesson from international ones). The staff was welcoming and accommodating; one of the bell hops was very helpful in getting us acquainted with the city and armed us with more maps and info than we actually used!

This was one of the best Hiltons we've ever stayed in - an experience made sweeter by the fact that we used rewards. We would definitely stay here again, even if we had to pay next time!

I just returned from a five night vacation in A'dam, and I loved this hotel. My room had an awesome view of the canal. The tram is right down the street and can take you anywhere in the city. The only negative part was the price of incidentals -- 100 euros for a week of internet access, six euros for a can of Pringles in the minibar, etc...the hotel seems to take advantage of the fact that it gets many business travelers with expense accounts, but it made it difficult for me traveling on my own dime. Nevertheless, it's a very luxurious place, with great service. I would definitely stay here again. I really enjoyed being in a more residential, quiet area of town, with easy access to the rest of the city. There are great restaurants and cafes nearby, and you are just minutes from the Vondelpark and the best art museums in the city.

Management does not understand the ethos of customer service

As a Diamond card and platinum Hilton credit card holder I spent 8 months there. The quality of the accommodation and furnishings is very good but unfortunately the service is not. One day I experienced a number of problems in a row and although in themselves they were not large, the attitude of Management and response was appalling. In essence, they felt they had not caused any of the problems and where they felt they fell down (very late room service) they believed that if they provide a meal free of charge, this resolves the situation. Most service people recognise that the solution is not a free meal but steps to ensure this does not happen again. In any case, a free meal is of no use to a traveller who wishes to eat before 9.30pm and go to sleep after a long day that started at 5am but was served after that time. In addition, re. the non-functioning TV, I was first accused of not knowing how to switch it on (after 8 months of stay) and then of causing the problem in the first place. Suffice to say, great hotel if you don't mind being insulted or offended. Even after my last mail where I made the comment that this confirms that customers are never right and that the hotel believes they lie, I did not receive a reaction to this.

This was the best Hilton we have ever stayed at. Honestly, we had enough points for 6 free nights, but we were treated like royalty. The room was spacious with a great view of a canal. The HHonors suite was fantastic - with a generous assortment of appetizers nightly. Sometimes, that was our dinner! The hot breakfast was great as well. True, its location is a bit out of the way, but walking one long block to the bus was no problem. It lent itself to a bit of peace and quiet. Service was terrific. It rained and our umbrella broke - they gave us a Hilton oversized umbrella to use. Though it did not have a shuttle to and from the airport, the multi-hotel shuttle stopped right there. It is more a business hotel than tourist hotel but we preferred it to the B&B's we have stayed in close to the "action."
