We stayed at this nice hotel for three days. For being away from the US, naturally, I like keeping up with my email, I know sounds crazy being on vacation. They wanted to charge 27 Euros for internet! That's $38 US dollars. Rip Off. Not even free wifi in the lobby to use my iPhone. Second, the breakfast was great. The wait service was horrible, at least to us. The hostess sat us, served us coffee/juice, and no one ever came back for refills. I know it's a buffet, but come on, give me juice! Although is a nice walk to the nearest Tram Station, not bad. I won't stay here again, as I found other chains closer to the city center.

Stayed with my partner for his birthday. Paid small money for the stay as I was a staff member from different Hilton. Service was excellent. Got a complementary bottle of sparkling wine, fruits and chocolates. Rooms were comfortable and very clean. I had the best pancakes ever for breakfast. Hotel is located in walking distant to Van Gogh museums and the city centre is only a few bus stops away.

I really can't recommend this hotel highly enough!

We saw the reviews for this hotel on Trip Advisor and managed to get a good deal on lastminute.com. It was my partners 30th birthday so I emailed beforehand to see if we could get a room with a city view. Not only did we get this but we also arrived back on our first night to find champagne, strawberries and cake had been left in our room. A very nice touch I think and it really made our night.

If you can get a room with a city view it is beautiful. The windows are huge so you have an amazing view out onto the canal in front of the hotel, the surrounding area and Amsterdam central in the distance. This is lovely in the evening too.

The room was outstanding, it was immaculately clean and the bed was amazingly comfy. It even had a pillow menu, if you'd like a different pillow!

We had tea and coffee on the garden terrace a few times. It is overpriced at 6 euros each but it's almost worth it for the surroundings, it's a great spot.

The only real bad point about the hotel is the price of the mini bar (7 euros for a can of coke, hmmm!) and the price of the breakfast (27 euros for continental, 32 for an american breakfast). I rarely don't know how they can justify this price. We would have considered it as it was a special occasion if we could have had it in the rooftop executive lounge as it was supposed to have 'a jawdropping view' but we were told that this wasn't allowed as we weren't in an executive room and if we did want breakfast it would be in the standard restaurant downstairs. So there really was no way I could pay £25 for some special K, yoghurt, a couple of pastries and a coffee!

I know most of these reviews comment on the location but I think it's made clear it's a little bit out of the centre. We loved the location, it was in a nice residential district and only 5 minutes walk to the park or to the tram stop. We walked back in the evening and felt perfectly safe so don't worry about that. The 5 tram will take you right into the centre and back until midnight. I think tram 16 will too.

To get here from airport, just take the train from Schipol to 'Amsterdam Station Zuid', we got our tickets at the self service machines for about 5.20 euros for both of us. From here just follow the signs for the trams and jump on the 5 tram going to 'Centraal Station'. We bought a strippenkaart (you can then use these later on all the trams) in the AH supermarket at the airport but you can just pay on the tram. It's about 80 cents I think. You need to get off at 'Apolollaan' which is about 4 stops away. From there turn back, walk over the bridge and turn right and then right again through a residential area and its right in front of you.

Someone told us it would be about 40 euros in a taxi so much cheaper!

So overall a superb hotel and we would be hard pressed to stay anywhere else in Amsterdam now! It was without doubt the best hotel I've stayed in.

We loved it!!!!

We stayed at the Hilton on June 27, 2009. Our room was via Hotwire...a fantastic rate for this hotel. At first arrival, I was disillusioned on the location...a 20 euro cab ride from station. However, our room had a real King size bed and was the most comfy of our entire vacation. We overlooked the canal and it was just peaceful and pretty.

Once we started walking we never actually took the tram into the city centre, but rather walked...Very close to the museum / fashion district which ended up being our favorite part of town. We walked to a restaurant called PALMA which was in a little square and was absolutely fantastic...do try and look it up!

We had a glass of wine on the hotel terrace (a little pricey yes, but the ambiance was fantastic for a Sunday afternoon). We found the hotel service excellent and knew ahead of time that breakfast, etc was pricey and didn't have any.

Highly recommend this hotel for those travelers who are not in AMS for late night party scene as you would indeed be disappointed. However if you are the traveler who enjoys being out of the noise and mayhem of a large city and prefer a 'neighborhood' location, I think this is a great location!

Note: if you walk out of hotel and head toward recommended tram stop, short distance to city centre, however if you turn Left and walk that road - and follow the maps to the "Cornelius......" district - very nice, very pretty and quaint, lots of cafe's, shops, etc...this was no more than 5 minutes walk.

Hotel was great, food and rest of amenities very, very pricey.
We payed 17 Euros for an Apple Pie (including room service charge).

Hotel was far from central Amsterdam, after midnight transportation was hard to find since you could only get a cab and it was pricey.

Loved the hotel, but not a big fan of the location being this the 3rd time I`ve been in Amsterdam.
