“Historical Hilton”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

I liked this property for two reasons - it's located in the most expensive neighborhood and it had great executive lounge. The fact that it's located in rich residential neighborhood made it very appealing to walk outside during the day or during the night. It's very peaceful and felt like home. I really enjoy this type of location, because it's away from all the craziness and chaos of daily life. Also, the food selection at the executive lounge was great and staff was very friendly. We invited our friends there for one night just for drinks and food and Hilton manager was very accommodating, which we liked. Our friends stayed at the other Hilton, because this one was overbooked, and they regretted it after visiting. The things that I didn't like were the rooms and the location in terms of main historical district. The hotel didn't have any transportation and it would take us a long time to get to the center city or it was too expensive, because we had to take cabs everywhere. But I understand that it's a trade in for location at rich residential neighborhood, right on the river. I guess this is why John Lennon and Yoko Ono spent a week there in 1969. Rooms were also standard - nothing special, not even spacious, like in other Hilton hotels. Food was great though. So, if you don't mind a long commute to Amsterdam center city or if you have a rental car, then this property is for you. At least, it is much better than the other Hilton hotel at the airport. If I were to come back to Amsterdam again, then I would probably still stay at this property.

Room Tip: I would recommend getting higher floors with the view of the river. Otherwise, you will just get a s...

I stayed here for 4 night in February 2013. The hotel is located close to a couple of tram lines so transport into amsterdam and around is easily accessible. I like the hotel as it has a certain character to it. Most people in the hotel looks like foreign business people. My only negative comment is that my room was not cleaned on the last night, not sure why not as I did not have the do not disturb sign on the door and I was out of the room the whole day. Internet is not free unless your a gold HH member. I personally think 25 euro for 24 hours of internet access is very expensive. I would recommend the hotel for business stays.

This Hilton is comfortabel located, with its own parking. Close to everything you wanna see in Amsterdam. It has a great espresso bar next to the entrance. Service is exceptional , very personal, and attentive. Check in efifcient. lobby is too windy when front door opens.. Very strange!! Rooms are having all comfort, design bit outdated? Excellent bed.
Breakfast is fine but not exceptional . So is the restaurant Roberto's. Risotto too much salt and I didn't really see the truffle ..

Next to the entrance is indeed an espresso bar named Issimo. Issimo is perfect for meeting up with friends and colleagues over an authentic Italian espresso. Savour fresh Italian pastries, freshly squeezed juice, a selection of hot and cold sandwiches, take away and gourmet gifts are also available.

We will indeed review your comment concerning the risotto with our Chef.

Nice modern clean hotel with great service. Good restaurant. Executive lounge was great. Great view from higher floors.

Located outside the main Tourist areas. Either walk 15 minutes to shopping or 25 minutes to center of city. you can also take the tram, which is close by. Nice affluent area seemed safe.

We stayed in the Hilton last weekend to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary - and the staff there made it feel like our first! The check in was painless and Talitha on the front desk was charming and very helpful. She provided us with a map and directions and helped us find our way around the tram systems and tourist attractions. The weather was amazing, it was a perfect mix of sunshine and snow!

Our room was immaculate, and because it was our anniversary we were greeted with a dish of fresh strawberries and dark belgian chocolate to dip them into - and a fabulous anniversary cake. The staff really went the extra mile to make us feel so welcome.
We'd also like to especially thank the breakfast staff in the restaurant - who gave us the perfect start to the day, to Hanna and Tiziana and Liza and especially to Arjan and his amazing pancakes! And finally a very special thank you to Lytsa the PA to the General Manager who worked behind the scenes to make our weekend so special! We will certainly be coming back.

The front desk was exceptionally helpful. On my first morning, preparing to ride the metro for the first time, the girl at the front desk drew me a map and instructions for which ticket machine to use, which stairs to walk up, which end of the train to board on, which stop to get off, and how to find my way to my office when I arrived. It's very easy to get around the city using public transportation, once you know your way.

The executive lounge was quiet while I was there, with a nice view, and standard breakfast \ dinner fare. The internet was out for the first two days, but there was a snow storm, so that's probably not the norm. I didn't use any of the other facilities to comment on them.
