Stayed for 3 nights over Easter. Got a deal from London Heathrow to Amsterdam including flights and accommodation for £770 for 2 of us. Hotel is 15 mins tram ride from the train station (Which you go to from the airport if you want to use public transport). It overlooks the canal and our executive room had fantastic views of this and Amsterdam city. Although the rooms are basic and moderately sized, I think for UK standards they are fine. You get lovely Crabtree and Evylon toileteries replaced 2x a day, chocs on pillows, free bottle of still and sparkling water, gourmet 'silk pouch' tea range. We stayed in the executive lounge so got access to the lounge which was great for lounge standards- beautiful range of fresh canapes, "free" wine/beer/cappuccino etc. The hotel breakfast buffet is lovely and fresh too. The Italian restaurant serves great, authentic food although I wouldn't recommend the Seafood Bonanza as the cold seafood antipasti flavours weren't fantastic and you have to pay extra for the main dish which is the best part (On top of £37.50 for the antipasti, pasta, dessert buffet). The coffee shop open until 3 on weekdays serves fair Illy coffee and tasty fresh snacks/ small meals.
It is £11.50 pp to get a hotel transfer or approx £6 for public transport. The only thing missing at the hotel is an indoor pool/spa and the room plasma tvs are a bit small but we survived!
The staff were especially friendly, kind and helpful. Overall as far as European hotel standards go, for the price I think the Hilton is good value. We would stay there again and were generally impressed.
