I stayed here for three nights using my Hilton points. Because it was a reward stay, I expected the worst...but it was quite the opposite.

When I arrived late in the evening, I was greeted by name as I was the last guest they were expecting that day that hadn't checked in. I was upgraded to a suite with a canal room on the executive level (which includes admittance to the lounge with breakfast and cocktails all day). Not bad for a "free room."

The receptionist spent about 20 minutes with me explaining the area, what to do, how to use public transportation, etc. She even offered me a free drink in the bar because the lounge was closed for the night. Because I had been traveling for business for about a week when I arrived, she made sure to tell housekeeping not to wake me in the morning.

The room was very clean, the linens were quite comfortable. The view of the canal spectacular.

I liked the location of the hotel as well. It was in a quiet residential neighborhood. I felt it gave me a nice view into Dutch culture. It was a very quick walk to the Van Gogh museum and to the city center.

Stayed at the hotel at the end of august with my partner.we were there on a romantic getaway.I myself had been to amsterdam a couple of times before, and this was my partners first time.First impression of the hotel from the outside was a little drab, considering how much we paid for the room.I was kind of expecting that as friends had stayed before. We were greeted with a lovely door man who took our bags and even spotted my good camera lying in the bck seat of the taxi(if it was not for him,no photos of the dam).Anyways arrived into the hotel and it was beautiful.staff were very friendly and helpful. The room we ordered was a exective queen deluxe, and for the price i would say it was very small, but most hotel rooms in amsterdam r like this!.
The bed was comfy, and everything was just right.Only thing bad was the price of food at hotel. It was so dear.It is the hilton!.
My only concern was it was a little out of our way and we spent most of the time getting taxis in and out of the center.
Great hotel it was just not for us,we will get something right in the center next time.caus im going bck in feb,and cant wait.
I am going to call amsterdam my secound home.I love this place so much.
hope this helps you.x

6 of us stayed in this hotel for a long weekend using 3 rooms. We found the price pretty good for the Hilton. Very nice and clean hotel and friendly staff. Rooms were a pretty good size.
Location was on the edge of amsterdam with the tram service a couple of minutes walk away. From here we could travel anywhere in the city. The first night we walked into town which took about 20-30 mins but not recommended for small groups.
We usually got a taxi back which never cost a great deal between the size of us, may be slightly on expensive side for two.
Overall would rate this and would stay here again, very quite outside the hotel as its in the rich part of amsterdam.

Wow this is a wonderful hilton property. I have stayed at tons of hiltons and i am a diamond member. This is one of the nicest hotels i have ever stayed in. The rooms were new and fabulous, the view of the canal breathtaking. The executive level club room was great if you get a room on that level. THe area is quiet and pretty and residential, but a 10 minute walk to the museums. I loved it there!

I'd decided to book a few well deserved few days of rest in Amsterdam (one of my favourite cities) and wanted what seemed to be impossible - a nice hotel, that wouldn't break the bank. I managed to score a great deal for this hotel on Priceline and accepted it.

Of course, being a Priceline deal I thought that I was going to be stuck in one of the hotels worst rooms (which can often happen), but either way was willing to accept whatever happened for the price I had paid.

I arrived, warm and sweaty after the trip from Schiphol via Centraal Station and the 16 tram and was greated by really friendly door staff and reception, who (unlike in other hotels) engaged in conversation and were very clear about what the hotel offered and the range of services. At no time was I treated any differently than a full rate paying guest and, in fact, I was treated better than I have been in many 5* hotels. I was asked if I would prefer a room with a view (obviously I would, but again its nice to be ask - not just assigned). I was given a room (with a gorgeous view over the canal/marina) on the 4th floor which was prefect. The decor was modern, the bed comfortable and the bathroom spotless and well stocked with towels and toiletries. The only complaint I could muster was that the desk chair wasn't great for sitting on for prolonged periods.

Staff were always attentive, yet discreet. You would get greeted or asked how your day/afternoon/evening went, yet never felt like it was forced or heavy handed. Reception staff also functioned in the same professional and slick manner.

Transport to/from the city was a breeze with the frequent tram service and nightbuses which operate just a short walk away from the hotel. An airport shuttle can aslo be booked to/from the hotel should you not feel like facing the public transport system.

It may be a Hilton (which, as a chain, can sometimes can be a little lacklustre) but the Hilton Amsterdam just seemed to have a sense professionalism and class within the staff I encountered that makes me want to return again. It may not be slap in the centre of the city - but I, for one, was glad of that. The quieter suburban area was much more tranquil and relaxing.

I personally can't find much to criticise them about (chair, as discussed above, and expensive Swisscom wi-fi is about it). For me, it was one of the best hotels I've stayed in for quite some time.
