We stayed in Flower Market G apartment, in Openhartsteeg.
It is a great location, really central.
Which is good if you are going for a party weekend, but bad if you want good sleep.
it is very noisy, and the windows are not double glazed and a bit draughty
.
It was the top floor apartment, on two levels.
Which was good, as it meant the noise from people using the stairs we less, however, it was at top of a four floor vertical spiral stair case.
Horrific for carrying cases.

The interior of the lounge room is great, very modern and tasteful, as is the bathroom.
Two of the three bedrooms were small, just enough to fit in two single beds or the double and a small bag.
the third was a good size, but the beds were under the windows, which made for an uncomfortable and chilly and noisy nights sleep.

It's down a very narrow alley, it could be intimidating for single women.
Every morning there were empty bottles and glass outside the front door.

It's very comfortable if you're going away with mates for a big weekend.
Don't consider it if you are in Amsterdam for work and need to sleep or have more than a carry on bag.

Six of us stayed in the Flower Market Apartment in October 2014. After booking the apartment, we then read quite a few bad reviews, and on arrival we were expecting the worst. As we arrived late at night (and it was bin day the following morning) our first impressions as we past the deserted flower market, and turned into the scruffy alleyway to meet 'the owner's friend with the key' - and hand him over cash to pay, was that we had made a mistake. But as soon as the money and keys had transferred hands (inside the apartment) we knew we had picked a good place.
Our 3 bedroom apartment was on the top floors, with a lovely modern kitchen/lounge/dining room in the loft space. The bedrooms were basic, and with no storage space, but this wasn't really an issue, and we were happy to live in a suitcase for 5 nights. Being at the top of the building, we had no issues with noise, but I can imagine if you were in one of the lower apartments the sounds of o0ther guests passing on the spiral staircase late at night would be a bit annoying.
Location-wise it is ideal. Just a few minutes walk from a big supermarket to pick up breakfast bits, and right on the doorstep of lots of good restaurants and bars. The apartment is about a 30 minute walk to the train station, and there is bike hire a couple of minutes away.
I would recommend staying here to groups of friends, or students, it is a little pricier than staying in hostels (although not much more) but it is definitely worth it!!!

We stayed there as a recommendation, me and three friends, and enjoyed every minute.
location is great, service is amazing, and the apartment employee (the one you pay to) is always willing to help if anything is needed.
Bottom line - great environment, amazing location and a fair price.

Room Tip: don't claim to high - even though the view is amazing (you see the whole flower market from the...

The flats are situated above a very busy bar. Loud music makes the entire building vibrate until 3am. There are 3 (May be 4) apartments in the building and there is constant traffic up and down the very narrow staircase, with drunk guests coming back in the small hours of the morning, doors being slammed etc. The rubbish collection is at 8am each morning, when bins of empty bottles are tipped in the refuse truck with a deafening noise. You'd be lucky to get any sleep.

If this is not enough to put you off, right next to the bar there is "coffee shop" which is open through most of the day and late into the night. If you are in flat 1 or 2, every time you open the windows a cloud of smoke comes in and permeates everything inside. The 3 beds and sofa bed are crammed in the apartment, so at some point you will have to open the window. The sofa bed was work and uncomfortable and the bed linen did not smell clean. There is a has hob in the flat but no pans and pots. There is a microwave and kettle but no socket in the kitchenette to plug them in.

I won't repeat the other comments about the narrow and steep stairs, but if you have a large suitcase or difficulty with mobility, you will struggle.

Overall, wish we paid a little more and stayed somewhere else.

Prior to our trip we had read some critical reviews regarding this apartment and we were dreading the worst, but the apartment turned out to be nice and clean with excellent location. Even the service was good, we arrived in the morning and we able to leave our luggage at the apartment for the day. There was a surcharge for paying with credit card, but this was told in advance. Biggest minus for us was lack of storage space, nowhere to unpack your clothes, so if you´re staying here for longer time, this might be an issue.

The apartment building itself is typical, narrow house with steep stairs so you get a hint how the locals live. Lots of great sights are located within walking distance eg. Kalverstaat (high street shopping), flower market, Rembrandtplein and it takes around 10 minutes to walk to Dam Square. We can recomment the stay here, but if you are in A´Dam for a quiet getaway, then avoid the apartment during pride week since there are pride street parties on Reguliersdwarsstraat and the apartment in located in between.

Wonderful location in an alleyway by the flower market in the centre of Amsterdam. Very spacious with nice kitchen and bathroom. Well furnished and clean. Not sure why one bedroom doesn't have a door! Not suitable for anyone with mobility problems as the stairs are quite challenging. Friendly rep met us with keys. Definitely recommend.
