Description: A family owned (father Frans & son Bob) bistro where we serve nice dishes with a good quality - price relation in a friendly atmosphere. Like in "brasserie Vlaming" we serve here also the "worldfamous" (anyway in Amsterdam) Sticky Toffee Pie.

“One word - GO!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

We were recommended to this restaurant and the feedback was backed up by trip advisor so we booked well ahead of our trip this weekend. The restaurant is small, with a visible kitchen and everything runs like a dream. Service is friendly and impeccable, everything is freshly prepared. We all had different starters, all of them as tasty as the other with a special mention for the veal which was sublime. We then had steaks, fish and the burger for mains, steaks were cooked to perfection with a delicious sauce, the swordfish in a beurre blank and the burger fresh and huge. Portions (mains and sides) are absolutely massive so bear this in mind. The sides will serve 3/4 with ease. Great service, great atmosphere and great food - GO!!

“Lovely atmosphere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013 via mobile

This restaurant is such a sweet place! It is away from the busy streets and the typical tourist parts of Amsterdam.
From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel extremely welcome. The two girls working were really friendly and attentive but not at all intrusive.
The menu is small but has a great selection within it. I went for the fish special from the blackboard along with a mixed salad and my boyfriend went for a burger. The food was excellent, I don't think I have ever enjoyed a salad as much and my boyfriend said it was the best burger he had ever eaten.
We were too full to try dessert but we thoroughly enjoyed our experience here!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

We were the first to arrive for Saturday evening service and were greeted by the friendly waitresses. The food was awesome!! To start we had the special pâté and carpaccio....it was divine!! Mains were the pork tenderloin and fish if the day which was perfect! Side orders of fries and veg which were lovely! Pudding......had to be the sticky toffee washed down with the special limoncello!! The suggested wine was perfect :-) mixed with great service it was a really lovely evening! Thank you for arranging our taxi too!! Go........you won't be disappointed!! :-) xx

“Just lovely”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

Lovely, friendly, knowledgable and attentive staff (who speak great English if you can't do Dutch- and don't begrudge you for it- really like many people of Amsterdam). We were there around 7pm and the place only had two other tables and looked pretty quiet which almost deterred us from going in- but we did and when we enquired they only had two tables left! After 8pm the place was full (still only 1.5 wait staff and everyone was well attended to) and the hostess had to turn many people away by phone and at the door- so book beforehand or arrive early! Fantastic food and considering the type of cuisine- fresh, homemade, a little complex- the service and delivery was very prompt. Possibly the most tender and delicious streak I have ever had and the duck was nice too- well worth the price. Great menu with wine pairing options and interesting specials of the day. My only suggestion (and maybe this is contrary to tradition?) but the sticky toffee pie should come with ice-cream in my humble opinion. Highly recommended for a special night out- the setting is cute and candles make it quite romantic :-) Its also suitable for groups of friends and there were families there with children aged 10- 17ish (probably not for babes). Enjoy!

“Quality,Taste,Tummy Full,Great Atmosphere,Happy Couple”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

Vlaming eten & drinken could be easily missed if your not looking out for it. My partner and I thought we give this place a go following the excellent reviews on tripadvisor. Immediately we was welcomed to the restaurant by the waiter. The menu was small which is o.k for us and it was very well explained including where the produce was sourced. I had the duck which was under the specials and I have to say this was the duck meal I have had in my life. The restaurant was only half full but it was late during mid week on a very cold February. This did not effect the atmosphere the owners made you fell like your part of this family run business. During our four days in Amsterdam this place beats all we tried by a clear mile.
