“NEW NAME.... LAI & WAI”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

Incredible service And great food. Extensive menu. Great choices....indonesian and chinese. Two brothers have gone into business to continue their restaurant/cafe options in Amsterdam. Waitress made small error during our order, within 2 minutes she had informed us of a possible delay and apologised. Great! Particularly when travelling with children. So relaxed, greatand patient staff. Recently renovated and really modern. Focus on renovation and food. Wish this restaurant was in my home town, would be there every week. Happened to be my birthday and staff made a big deal. Thanks

“Very enjoyable meal for four”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

We visited this, local to our hotel, restaurant for an early meal on the last night of our Amsterdam trip. We had not made reservations, however, we were shown to a table quickly, even though the place was starting to get busy.

The restaurant is nicly decorated with several crystal clear aquariums of fish around the room adding to the pleasent atmosphere.

The orders were taken and delivered quickly by the efficient staff. My husband and friend raved about their oyster/scallop starters, while my friend and I enjoyed the hot and sour soup. Mains followed and clean plates were returned.

Very enjoyable, reasonably priced food in nice surroundings, approx £23 per head for 2 courses. drink and tip

“Superb Chinese Fusion Indonesian Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

We stayed at the Amsterdam Renaissance Hotel from 10/10/12 to 10/12/12 which is right near this restaurant. I kept noticing it as we walked by the two nights we stayed and I felt like some Chinese comfort food. Well I was in for a tremendous treat. The decor was clean and colorful. The restaurant was huge. When we walked in we were not greeted or seated right away. In fact we had to ask for seats. It was 3 girls on our last night in Amsterdam before a Celebrity Reflection cruise. We were seated but the menus were slow to come. We decided to be patient and see how things progressed. Actually we had to call who we thought was the host. Turns out the young Chinese man was the owner. He just bought the restaurant about 3 months prior. He apologized for the awkward service and told us they were about to close since it was slow and all of sudden traffic picked up. After that conversation we had menus and our waitress came to take our order. I recall ordering wonton soup just for starters and a spicy shrimp and chicken dish. My other two friends ordered their dishes and we looked forward to the meal. Well when my wonton soup arrived and tasted that broth and how clean and flavorful it was and the meaty fresh pork in the wonton skins I knew we were in for some good food. All the dishes were so good. I told the new young owner to keep the chef. He said the chef stayed from the prior owner and has been there 6 or more years. Go don't walk but run to the Dragon Corner in Amsterdam. You're in for a treat. The owner planned to update the decor and make it more young and hip. He can do what he wants but just don't fire the chef and make sure the chef stays happy because he can throw down!

“Great service, nice food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

On our stay in Amsterdam this chinese-indonesian restaurant became the restaurant we visited the most. The food is good here, with quite a few nice set menus which are great value for money (although almost a little too much to eat, actually).
However, the main reason we came back to this place is because of the excellent service we received. Attentive, kind, quick and professional with just the right touch of familiarity. One waitres (a younger girl) in particular deserves a special honarable mention. She was outstanding!
The interior is pleasant with a few well maintained aquariums for added ambiance, even though some of the decor was a little on the kitschy side. But everything was spotlessly was clean and the restaurant managed to supply a relaxing atmosphere.

“A Big Thank You!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

We only had a weekend but both ended-up having dinner at the same place because it's a good family restaurant. It is now owned by Chi and his family. The people were all nice and helpful. Our first night, my husband and I ordered the Cantonese meal for two while our kids ordered differently.
All ordered meals were great and the priced was reasonably. The next night, we had the Sea Dragon which was really good! Again, the price were all reasonable. The second night that we all came, it was busy which Chi (the owner) ended-up preparing our meal. Everyone's working were all busy attending each table and we always hear them asking if the meal has been prepared they way they want it or if everything's okay. The owner even had the time to come over to our table and chat a bit to see if our meals were okay. Our daughter's a picky eater so when we ordered her meal, we made sure they understood it. They've prepared the way our daughter wanted it and she even finished her entire dish! Having to end each day with a great dinner in this restaurant is wonderful. Thank y'all kindly, Chi and your family for making our short weekend trip memorable! Keep it up and make the New Dragon Corner worth coming back for because we will. See y'all soon!
