“Very spacious and comfortable. Cheap too!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

I stayed over at this Ramada hotel when I nearly finished my journey from Germany.
All of my mates were quite exhausted after having track days and over a couple of thousands miles of driving so we needed some quiet, cool place to chill out.

This was the place. Room was very spacious, recently renovated (I believe?) and very cheap price!! Plus you get a huge secure locked underground car park if you are a car enthusiast.
The location is probably good. I don't know for sure but taxi from the central city to hotel was just about 10 mins.

If I were to go to Amsterdam again, I'd probably not risk trying others and just stay here.
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Get any cheapest deal possible. I think all the rooms are spacious enough for anyone.

Overall impression of the hotel was brilliant! We arrived at the airport, used the yellow button at the airport shuttle stop to call the hotel - the bus arrived within 10 minutes... It dropped us off literally right outside the front door, where we were greeted by the hotel staff.Everyone was pleasant, informative and spoke better English than my partner and I..

The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The beds are twins, pushed together - but I understand a lot European countries sleep this way?! Breakfast was plentiful.. Make sure you go to the 17th Floor, the view is fantastic & it really helps you establish where things are!

The 17th Floor Bar is expensive when ordering food - we LOVE good food & don't mind paying to dine out, but two drinks, two main courses and 63Euro lighter, we really weren't impressed.. Maybe not for those on a budget!

Top tips:
1.Tram is right outside the hotel - get number 13, it runs regularly. Pay 2.60 for your first ticket, which will last you an hour. Get the tram to Centrum & buy your 24,48,72 hour ticket. We got 72hour for 16Euro (means you don't have to worry about paying on the tram all the time)
2. Walk and bike everywhere - places are closer than you think & the canals are beautiful to walk along.
3.Nightlife = Leidsplein
4.The floating flower market is very touristy - Unless you like those kind of things, I'd avoid as its disappointing.. (we searched for it & luckily came across lots of other things)
5.In de Wildeman (300 types of beer, pub) small pub, smells like feet - would much rather sit in a cafe along the canal and watch the world go by!

Baggage room at the hotel, with free lockers so that you can make the most of your last day!

Would 100% recommend!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 419 - faced the whole city

This was the first time we stayed out of the centre but was very pleasantly surprised. The bar on Floor 17 is lovely and not too pricey. We had a corner romm which was really lovely and lastly, the staff are superb - top marks to all at the Ramada Apollo

Stayed here with friends last weekend for 3 nights. Hotel is very good, staff are all very pleasant, beds are the most comfortable I have ever had in a hotel. Loads of english TV channels available too. The rooms are very comfortable and you can control the temperature in your room, which was really good as we were there in December.
The 17th floor bar & restaurant have great views over the city. Due to late arrival we ate in the restaurant on the first evening and must say that the food absolutely delicious, there just was not enough of it and we all thought it was a bit overpriced. 1 starter, 4 main courses and 1 cheeseboard, 2 bottles of wine and the bill was just short of 200 euros and we were still hungry.
The hotel is a good 15 min tram ride from the city centre but with trams running on time every 10 mins it was not a problem. Buy either a three day pass or a day ticket for the trams 7.50 euros and you can go anywhere.
The hotel is a bit isolated and does not really have any shops or restaurants near to it so stock up at a supermarket before returning to the hotel. The area surrounding it looks a bit industrial but this would not stop us returning.
Shuttle bus from the hotel ? Let me clarify, it is free from the Airport to the hotel but the return journey costs each person 5 Euros each so it is still a very good deal. Our friends missed the bus and it cost 40 euros in a cab.One thing worth noting is that the bus leaves exactly on time whether you are there or not. We did ask if the driver could wait a few minutes and were told this was not possible. All in all we did enjoy staying here and would recommend it as a place to stay

Room Tip: Room tip take a high floor for the views.

We came for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and had high expectations after much internet research (especially of the much lauded Floor 17 restaurant). Unfortunately the courtesy bus did not arrive despite 3 calls to reception while waiting outside in sub-zero temps. After waiting 70 frustrating mins we got an airport taxi (35 euro!). The location is quite far out from the centre, though the park it is based in is lovely for a walk.
The wonderful Robbert at reception was very courteous and upgraded us to a corner double on the 13th floor which was lovely. Rooms not particularly large. Free Wi-Fi, great. No bath in en-suite. Plenty of storage space. Tea and coffee making facilities are available. Beds wonderfully comfortable but the movement-sensitive light on the wardrobe played up all night clicking on and off resulting in poor sleep. After reporting it to reception they later said they could find no fault...Same problem next night with all the clothes taken off the hanger and a towel wrapped round it to dim the light solved the problem. NOT IDEAL but perhaps understandable given its still a very new hotel with teething problem still.
The restaurant on the 17th floor was certainly classy looking but alas the service from the bartender left more than a little to be desired he was too busy being Tom Cruise with his cocktails..Despite trying to get attention we waited a long time to be served and quite honestly he must have been doing us a favor as he had a really superior attitude which was disappointing. Therefore did not stay for dinner. The menu was extremely expensive with poor choice. I certainly don't want chips with everything but I would expect a hotel of this calibre to have 4 or 5 choices for each course. EAT OUT IN TOWN! Lastly you can tell this is still a "new hotel".
The reception seating areas are vast with plenty of seating but with no cosines or warmth. Fake fires flickering on TV plasma screens are the centrepoint of each seating area which they should rethink: it looks terrible. Small bar in reception serving plastic sandwiches. Why is there no second restaurant or cafe/bistro? There is a lot of work to do here to bring some warmth and encourage you to sit and relax. Why no cushions, lamps, bookshelves to encourage you to sit and relax?
As this is a tourist destination you'd expect a counter or display for brochureware of local exhibitions/museums/restaurants/bus and tram maps but there was not one item to be found. I have to highlight the service of Robbert again, who provided a map, gave some tourist information and kindly offered our return trip to the airport free of charge in lieu of the taxi fare we paid at the start of our 4 day vacation. He was an excellent ambassador for the company and we appreciated all his kindness. So to summarize, warm and comfortable hotel that needs to iron out its glitches, ramp up the menu and warm up the relaxing areas of the hotel. Floor 17 restaurant is no where near as great as it thinks it is (though great looking) and promote Robbert immediately. A lovely knowledgeable guy he is obviously dedicated to his job as other reviews have also pointed him out!

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room high up to make the most of the fantastic view. If you like a bath you might h...

Yes, unlimited wifi internet is very important nowadays. And this hotel is provide is for free! Easy login and can use many devices. All the other things are satisfied enough except the location which is lil a bit far from the city center I think. But that wil be no problem if you use rented car or coach

Two weeks ago, I had to do some business in Amsterdam and came across the Ramada Apollo Hotel Amsterdam. I found out the hotel was recently refurbished, and recently re-opened. The hotel exceeded all my expectations. We were sleeping on the 12th floor, and the view was amazing. I was able to look over whole Amsterdam city, even being able to see the planes going to Schiphol, and see the lights of the Amsterdam Arena.

A restaurant/bar/lounge like Floor 17 really is exceptional. The view combined with the great interior is amazing.

During our arrival the staff at the front office greeted us very kindly and helped us in a as well friendly as formal way. The room we slept in was still smelling like it was never used. Especially the bed and the bathroom were exceptional. The quality of the bed was very good, and the bathroom is as well clean as big.

My overall opinion about Ramada Apollo Hotel is very positive. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friend and family and would love to return to this hotel
