“Great choice for an all-Amsterdam-city-experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

Nice and comfortable modern small hotel right in the centre of upscale part of Amsterdam. Very friendly staff and super clean cosy rooms. Beds were awesome (comfy and fluffy). Hotel is located on a very quiet street so you can sleep without earplugs. Parking in front is only possible when you're lucky but I recommend public transport. Easy to reach by both tram and bus (only 3min walk).
Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum and Leidseplein are within 10min walk. So plenty of options for dinner, entertainment and bars.
one down-point is that breakfast is extremely expensive (20 euro each). We walked to the bakery at the end of the street instead...
Overall great choice when you arrive by public transport and want to go for an all Amsterdam city experience!

This is a small and well run hotel with very stylish bedrooms and sleek bathrooms. We had the cheapest room which was comfortable and cosy on the cold winter nights. The reception staff are exceptionally helpful .... top marks to Thomas who recommended and booked tables in nearby restaurants. Do try the local Indonesian restaurant Sama Sebo and go for the 'rice table' or rijsstafel when a delicious array of dishes are presented. We did not have breakfast here.

We have just returned home from a two night break at this delightful boutique hotel located in a beautiful area of Amsterdam. We stayed in an Executive Room on the first floor which was warm, welcoming and very well equipped with Jacuzzi bath, Raindance shower, and lots of other luxurious little extra touches. The staff were all lovely, helpful and enthusiastic and always available when needed. Breakfast was delicious and available from seven right through until eleven. A hot and cold international buffet was supplemented by an a la carte option offering omelettes, cinnamon french toast and freshly made pancakes etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and plan to return to the JL 76

Room Tip: I would imagine that every room is good here, we were in room 104 which was very quiet

Set on a leafy, quiet street in heart of museum area and high end shopping, Hotel JL 76 (for Jan Luhken street) is great get a way. The front office staff is particularly welcoming and helpful. Rooms are well equipped. Executive rooms have jacuzzi tubs with TVs. The honor bar is a good touch and useful. Good breakfast and light lunch and dinners available on site. In summer there is secluded outdoor garden with seating.

Room Tip: Several rooms have balconies or bay windows. Better views from the front of the hotel.

This is a nice hotel in the museum area of Amsterdam. Great room and very quiet. We did not eat at the hotel as the breakfast was a bit pricey. The hotel itself is very near public transportation and within walking distance of many attractions.

We stayed here for a long weekend just before Christmas 2013 to celebrate my girlfriends 40th. With 3 little ones at home it's fair to say we were always likely to appreciate the break wherever we stayed but No 76 was perfect for an adult break and the level of comfort and attention to detail exceeded expectations. Staff were friendly and helpful and invisible if you wanted it that way. Our standard room in the lower ground level was really smart and clean and had some lovely design touches.
Location was excellent just one road over from the Van Gogh museum and there were some excellent bars (cafe Wellbeing) and restaurants close by (Seafood Bar and Restaurant)
30 minute walk into centre was quiet and interesting and we would definitely look to visit Amsterdam and to stay at No 76 again. it was faultless and the dining was also top notch.

Returned this evening from a trip to Amsterdam and two nights in the JL No 76 - what a super hotel!

The hotel is in a great location in the museum and fashion district - sandwiched between Van Gogh and Chanel! We didn't use the public transport systems as we found everywhere was relatively easy to walk to and didn't want to miss out on any of the sights of Amsterdam. Upon arrival the lady at the front desk gave us a city map which was really handy, she also marked out all of the main touristy spots. Our trip was primarily for Christmas markets so she helped us mark their locations on our map.

When we entered our room we were in for a lovely surprise - we had been upgraded! Our room had a jacuzzi bath with a television, tea and coffee facilities including a Nespresso machine. The room was beautifully clean, the beds were incredibly comfy as were the pillows (although they were possibly a bit too big!). The room included a DVD player - DVDs were available to borrow from the reception desk - they had a big selection and this was very welcome after a long day of sightseeing in the rain.

Breakfast was fresh and tasty - a continental buffet with fresh breads, pastries, meats and cheeses, juice, fruit and yoghurt. Stocks were replenished regularly and staff were more than happy to help if there was something else you wanted.

If I return to Amsterdam I will definitely consider JL No 76 again, or maybe another of the Vondel hotels?!
