“Authentic Thai cuisine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

This cosy restaurant is situated along a canal and a bit off the tourist trail. They serve good quality, and in our opinion, authentic Thai food. For almost every dish you can choose between chicken, shrimps, beef or a vegetarian version. The staff is very friendly and prices are reasonable.

“A quiet place on a Friday night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

This little restaurant is just around the corner from our (favorite) hotel, the MISC. It was a Friday night and everything was busy, but we peeked into this little (and I do mean little) place and saw some seating. We were warmly welcomed by the owner/manager and got a nice table in back. The place is small, dimly lit and cozy, with only about 5 tables.
The food was good, not overly spicy at all, and ample portions. But honestly, maybe bordering on bland.
Watch out and duck when you come in! The entry is narrow, about 5 steep steps down, and low headroom-all of which adds the the allure of the place.
All in all, not bad, and a nice escape on a busy evening.

“Fine Thai restaurant, but you can find better one in Amsterdam”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

This little Thai restaurant is suited on a old canal in the centre of Amsterdam, near the Red Light District. It does not look like a typical Asian restaurant, but it is cozy. Food is average within Thai measures. You can find better ones on the Zeedijk of Westerstraat.

They do not have baby seats.

“Not nice!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

The owner was impolite and very not nice with us! We will never go again to this place. It was already impolite in the phone to make the reservation and then in the restaurant too. not a nice place.

“Delicious, great service, good prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013 via mobile

Coming to Raan Phad Thai 2 was a perfect weird finale to a weird week in Amsterdam. My friends and I had been on a hunt for good Thai food for a few days and we were literally stumbling down the street when one of the staff ran out to us with menus and a smile, welcomed us in, sat us down, and before we knew it, we had ordered two "surprises" - one vegetarian and one with meat.

We were served beautiful heart shaped rice plates to have with our vegetarian and meat curry dishes. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. I think we paid ?11 or ?13 for each dish. Not bad for large servings.

Our whole evening was charmed by the kind chef and waitress. They were friendly and talkative but not intrusive.

Maybe we saw their friendliness as weird or the fact that the restaurant was empty or that we felt almost compelled to enter the restaurant or it could have been the jack herer. Anyway it was a great experience and I would come back. The restaurant is also beautifully decorated. A great touch. I love the open kitchen as well. The place feels more homey for it.
