“Home away from home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2014

My husband and I stayed at the Prince Henry for 3 nights in the beginning of June. We absolutely loved it! The suite was very charming with a kitchen area, coffee maker and tea available. Snacks were provided every afternoon. Wine and water was available at a very reasonable price.
It was very easy to get into the city center via the tram/bus. It was also nice to be a bit away from the center, it was great to see but I wanted a relaxed place after a day sightseeing in Amsterdam. It felt like we actually lived here and this was our little apartment in a fabulous neighborhood!
Joop and Petra ( the owners )made all the arrangements very easy. Magda was also very helpful with arrangements for dinner at a wonderful Italian restaurant around the corner. Writing this is bringing back wonderful memories and I can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Book early as there are not many rooms and I'm sure a lot of repeat customers! I will certainly...

Greeting a 10-year old boy with a slice of cake and a jar of chocolates was a promising start, and our stay at the Prince Henry more than lived up to first impressions. We stayed in the spacious, self-catering Apartment Suite on the first floor of this Dutch town house, with a delightful view of its garden and those of neighbouring properties in a very pleasant part of Amsterdam. The area is well-served by restaurants, and the Vondelpark - a great place for early morning runs or bike rides - is almost on the hotel's doorstep. Our hosts were generous and considerate. We shall definitely return.

Although ever so slightly out of the central zone (a bonus in my opinion) the two biggest reasons for a near certain return visit, have to be the beautiful neighbourhood where the Prince Henry is located and the fabulously accommodating and friendly Joop and Petra.
The accommodation was lovely and the garden/patio perfect especially with a small child and we enjoyed the fantastic breakfasts out there daily. In terms of value for money you will not get better or fresher (delivered to your room at your time of choosing) from most top hotels. Joops restaurant recommendations in the local vicinity really helped and meant we had fantastic meals out each evening without having to go too far. Being right next to Vondelpark was great and the no. 2 tram across the road meant none of the sites were hard to get to. The freshly made cakes/snacks from Petra and the great value drinks cart at reception were just great little touches. Will definitely be back.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 weeks in March. We loved the room and Petra and Joop were great hosts. Every day home made breakfast was left at our door on a tray, and Petra is a caterer and a great chef so the breakfasts were to die for. In fact we would get our breakfast and spend a lazy morning enjoying the food and our great surroundings. What a way to start the day. It is located right next to Vondelpark, so you can easily walk to the center of Amsterdam...There is also a tram stop right outside the hotel.
They also provide wine, beer, and snacks in the main area where you can help yourself. So we would have breakfast, spend the day in town and when we came home Petra would leave a fabulous desert so we could unwind with wine and dessert....all included
It was truly a home away from home and made our trip to the Netherlands a magical get away for us. I am sure we will go back it is the best.

If you want to stay outside of the tourist crowds, this is the best place to stay. Access to the tourist area is very easy by the nearby tramway. This place is exceptional (clean, quiet, etc.). Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The garden room gives easy access to a nice little garden where you can sit down and enjoy a drink.

The Prince Henry is the perfect accommodation for those who like to experience all that Amsterdam has to offer but like to stay away from the hustle and bustle in a very quiet, up-scale neighbourhood. It is located beside Vondelpark and it is easy to walk or take tram #2 (it runs every 10 minutes) into town. Joop and Petra are extremely accomodating, fantastic hosts. The breakfasts are amazing - don't skip them! The treats that Petra left out every day were also very much appreciated. The wifi was also excellent. Our ground floor suite with the garden area was perfect for our family of four. I would highly recommend it and would absolutely stay here next time I'm in Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Executive garden on the main floor has its own large terrace

With it being such a brilliant place, I'm not too sure where to start... I could begin with telling you just how amazing the home cooked and baked breakfast is, about how great it is to start you day in such a relaxing manner (it is delivered to your room at the time you require) and about the quality of every ingredient. I could start by telling you about the hosts, Joop and Petra; they have thought of everything to make your stay as smooth and as enjoyable as possible. I could tell you about how accommodating they are. We travelled with our 5 month old boy and they could not do enough to ensure all of our happiness - providing baby baths, sterilizers and even his own breakfast.

I could, of course, start by telling you about those little touches that make the big difference. Quality toiletries in the bathroom, beautifully furnished rooms, coffee machine in the room, a 24 hour 'honesty bar' for cold drinks ( the cava comes highly recommended!) , the continual supply of free snacks, or even the home made baking that would regularly appear! I could start by telling you any of this.

I could start by telling you about the lovely area the suites are in. A delightful park a minutes walk away, quiet at night with a tram stop a 2 minute walk away to take you into the centre of Amsterdam.

However, I think I will actually start by explaining just how kind and thoughtful Joop and Petra were to us. A change in our circumstances meant we had to cancel our initial trip and change dates. They were incredibly kind and considerate and did all they could to accommodate us.
Simply, this place could not come more highly recommended.
