“Awesome suit and neighbourhood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

Awesome experience, stayed at Loft (top floor) with outstanding views over nice neighbourhood, walking distance to Museums Quarter through beautiful park. Comfy bed and good choice of books.
Breakfast was great (actually the best of our whole Europe Trip – we stayed mostly at Marriott or Sheraton) – fresh, delicious and healthy.

My wife and I chose to stay at Prince Henry Suites because of its location and all the rave reviews. Now we must add our praise for Petra & Joop's lovely B&B.

Both P&J are wonderful hosts who welcome their guests into their lovely home, extending hospitality into friendship. Their knowledge helps guests who are unfamiliar with Amsterdam gain the best value for their time and money.

The suite was exceptionally spacious, the breakfast was delicious, the location was ideal, and the conversations with P&J were both delightful and helpful--the personal touch you cannot find in a corporate hotel. Highly recommended, and definitely where we will return on possible future visits to this fascinating city!

We stayed in the front room twice during June and will return should we ever visit Amsterdam! The room and bathroom were larger than normal and the breakfast was the best continental breakfast we have ever had! Moving on to Rome, we were most dissapointed after being spoiled by this establishment! The coffee machine and stocked fridge for our use was a delightful extra we enjoyed. A lovely firm mattress ensured a good nights sleep in this quiet suburb. We will recommend this accomodation to anyone, it is easy to reach by tram even when pulling one's suitcase!

This small, lovely B&B is the perfect place to stay while visiting Amsterdam. We were welcomed personally on our arrival in the late evening after a very long flight. Petra immediately saw that we were exhausted and arranged dinner for us in our room. Unfortunately, the very 1st night we had a health issue. Petra and Joop were extremely kind and brought us to see their doctor the very next day. We cannot say enought about their kindness. We also loved our room which was very spacious and comfortable. Spaciousness in Amsterdam is very rare! The location is perfect - close to the tram, next to the park, and an easy walk to the museums and canal boat ride. We cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Amsterdam now that we have experienced The Prince Henry.

The Prince Henry offered very comfortable accommodations in a superb location close to Vondelpark where you can enjoy a lovely stroll while checking out the crowds of walkers, joggers and bicyclists or just enjoy the birds and waterfowl. Petra and Joop bent over backwards to ensure all of our needs were met. Breakfasts were plentiful, simple but delicious. What I liked most was that we were close to real Amsterdam neighbourhoods with restaurants locals enjoy. At the same time, you are not far from museums and other tourist sites (10 - 15 minutes walk or a short tram ride). The room was large, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom had a great soaking tub as well as a shower. We also had access to a garden but unfortunately, the weather wasn't quite right for us to take advantage. Really enjoyed our stay!

Room Tip: There are some good restaurants off the tourist track and within a very short walk from the hotel...

We have spent time in some of the best hotels & B&B's in the US & Europe. We can not say enough good things about Petra & Joop & their home. Unless it were in a houseboat on the Herengraacht, we would not consider staying anywhere else. The executive garden apartment is spacious & well appointed. Although the weather did not allow us to use the garden seating area, it did give one the sense of much more space.

The neighborhood is a wonderful collection of late 1800's homes & apartments, close to the #2 tram which will quickly get you downtown & the Vondelpark if you want to get your exercise & walk to the museums. We walked to the Jordan in less than 1 hr. When in Amsterdam....

There are good restaurants nearby, such as Bond, Cafe Grand Willempark, or Blauw. Why stay in downtown Amsterdam?

But the real reason for staying in a B&B is to be closer to the people. You will not find & more caring, friendly, or entertaining family than Petra & Joop. Silk plants & flowers? We had fresh tulips, the reason we went to Holland in April!

We have 2 wishes: 1.) the Petra & Joop continue to receive the Tripadvisor Travellers Choice award which they deserve: 2.) that they open up a southern branch in France.

We stayed in the loft in April and we couldn't have had a better stay. The room was perfect and they had thought of everything you could possibly need. Petra was a great hostess and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was delicious too!
